Akiva Garellek focuses on meeting his clients where they are. Working together with his clients and meeting their needs is of the utmost importance. He uses evidence-based models, such as CBT and DBT, in his practice. Even more importantly, he offers a great deal of empathy and will take on your problems and attack them as if they are his own. Ever since I was young, I knew I wanted to get into a career path that would make a difference in people’s lives. This interest led me to study psychology and mental health, ultimately leading me to a rewarding career in helping people. As a licensed Mental Health Counselor in the greater New York &  South Florida area, I am committed to the well-being of all my clients and go above and beyond to cater to their needs. I truly care for all of my clients and work diligently to help find them the answers they seek. Since 2016, I have worked with a variety of clients dealing with circumstances that are unique to their lives, which led me down the path of specializing in working with children utilizing play therapy.

I have found that describing myself had never been a skill I have mastered throughout my years of experience. It just feels awkward, so I embrace the awkward. I would say that is how I approach the therapeutic relationship as well. I laugh at the absurd and try to make the awkwardness a friend. I name it so we can work with it in an authentic nonjudgemental manner. I always ask my clients to give therapy a chance and the therapist a chance as well. I say move on if by session three you are not "feeling it" with the therapist. It is okay if you don't like me as a therapist. This is your journey and I am your guide. The journey needs to be with someone who you connect with.

Thoughts like “am I good enough?” or “can I do this?” typically bring to the surface feelings of sadness, self-doubt and inadequacy. Peace. Happiness. Love. Success. We seek them. We want them. As we see them within reach, we are knocked down by the challenges and difficulties of life. We find, instead, lives that are filled with anxiety, sadness, grief, trauma, loss and failure. I know this too well. I have experienced this in my own life and in the life of my clients. It does not matter where you are in your life. I have had celebrity clients at the top of their field. I have worked with gold medal athletes. I have worked with businessmen and women, housewives, families, adolescents. I have also worked with those who have lost everything to the ravishes of substance use and with men serving life in prison. It is possible to navigate the dangerous waters of life, but you will need a guide. I am that guide. I have excellent education from Palm Beach Atlantic University. I have a wealth of experience. I have over three decades of experience as a husband, father, grandfather, youth pastor, counselor and university professor. I have worked in the church, private practice (in Florida and the Bahamas), community mental health (specializing in crisis and families with at-risk-adolescents), foster care, substance abuse, juvenile justice and the prisons. I have maintained my relevance by teaching at the university level, advising a best-selling author on the psychological aspects of his book, and serving as a consultant to other mental health agencies. I have wonderful experience working with anxiety, depression, anger, parenting issues, challenging children and teenagers, grief, trauma, substance use issues, family and relationship issues, LGBT issues, and other issues and concerns. I have helped my clients find peace with themselves, with others and in their situations. I have helped my clients find happiness, even amid loss. I have helped my clients find belonging and love in healthy and supportive relationships. I have helped my clients increase their ability to succeed by changing their thinking. One of the foundations of my life and my work was written by M. Scott Peck in The Road Less Travelled. He wrote, “Life is difficult. This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths… Life is a series of problems. Do we want to moan about them or solve them? Do we want to teach our children to solve them?” Let’s start today to solve some of life’s problems and to begin to grasp peace, happiness, love and success.

Thank you for considering me as your personal mental health therapist and emotions coach. Over the last few years, we have collectively endured traumatic, distressing, and challenging times that have reshaped how we view the world and how we choose to move forward within it. For many, this has meant clinging to familiar beliefs for comfort. For others, the weight of trauma, hopelessness, and fatigue has left them feeling stuck, unable to access their inner strengths or resilience. I believe that in those moments, we all need someone to help guide us back from the darkness into the light. I want to be that beacon of light for you. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional with more than 15 years of counseling experience and over 20 years of serving families. My treatment philosophy is rooted in the belief that every individual has strengths that can be nurtured to foster healing and growth. By combining psychotherapy and clinical social work theories within a strength-based model, I help clients build coping strategies, discover new tools, and reclaim their sense of well-being. Our work together will focus on developing a trusting, supportive, and confidential therapeutic relationship—one that is grounded in empathy, respect, and validation, without pity or blame. My practice integrates Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, all within a behavioral change framework. These approaches allow me to tailor therapy to your unique needs, helping you move forward with resilience, clarity, and hope. Healing is a journey, and you don’t have to walk it alone. My role is to walk beside you, providing guidance, insight, and encouragement as you rediscover your strength and reclaim your light.

Hello! My name is Dan, and I am a licensed mental health counselor. I am passionate about my profession and enjoy helping my clients achieve their individual goals. It is exciting to see a client go from where they were to where they want to be in their lives! This is all achieved by tailoring my sessions to the needs of each person I work with. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore obstacles with concerns related to anxiety, depression, and/or self-care. I provide Christian Counseling to incorporate faith and God into our sessions. I focus on helping clients develop assertive communication & boundaries with themselves and those around them that can help improve their quality of life. One of the most powerful effects I have found in therapy is providing a safe space where you are heard, understood, and accepted. I believe therapy is most effective when it feels both supportive and collaborative. My goal is to provide a safe space where clients can process trauma, explore challenges, and build the skills they need to live more fully. I offer psychotherapy, therapeutic assessments, and specialized interventions designed to meet each client’s unique needs. Whether you are navigating life transitions, managing mental health concerns, or seeking greater clarity in your relationships, I aim to help you feel understood and empowered. As I often remind clients, our connection to the world is shaped by the people we engage with. Together, we can build on your existing strengths and experiences to create meaningful change and improve your quality of life. As an athlete, a family man, and a man of faith, I understand the challenges with adjusting to change associated with leaving a sport or career, you love, before you believe your time is up. I understand what it feels like to develop a bond and the challenges with sustaining such bonds. I also understand seeking growth spiritually when there’s so much temptation and triggers that seem to pull me away for my goals. With that, these experiences are what hopefully keep me humble, motivated, and grateful.

Hello there I’m Johnny, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Miami, Florida. Outside of my work, I’m someone who loves to explore new places, try different foods, and spend time outdoors. Traveling gives me perspective and reminds me how much there is to learn from different people and cultures. I also enjoy cooking, scuba diving, and finding quiet moments near the ocean whenever I can. I’ve always had a curious side—I’m fascinated by astronomy and love collecting action figures, con's, which is something that’s stuck with me since childhood. Those small interests keep me grounded and remind me to make space for the things that bring joy. Family is important to me, I value humor, honesty, and connection, both in my personal life and in the relationships I build every day. I believe that who we are outside of our work matters just as much as what we do, and I try to live in a way that reflects that balance.

Fluent in Spanish and passionate about guiding people through life’s challenges, I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Walden University, a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice from Colorado Technical University, and an Associate’s in Criminal Justice from Pikes Peak State College. With over a decade of experience as a caseworker, substance abuse counselor, and therapist, I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse clients facing real-life struggles and in need of daily support. Life can be tough, and we all face difficult moments—whether it’s a breakup, divorce, grief, the loss of a loved one or pet, or even a job loss. In these times, having an unbiased person to offer support can make a world of difference. I see trauma as an unexpected part of life that is often hard to process, but with the right help, it can be managed and overcome healthily. I’ve personally experienced more than my share of trauma, grief, loss, sadness, depression, and substance use, and I sought help to work through them. My approach to therapy is centered on helping people in the best way possible, always with an open mind. I often use Maslow’s hierarchy of needs as a guide, because I believe mental health is hard to prioritize when physical needs aren’t met, or issues like homelessness or substance abuse are present. I enjoy working with clients from age 5 to older adults who face Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, PTSD, Mood Disorders, Personality Disorders, and other mental health or substance use challenges. It’s easy to fight battles alone and suffer in silence, but you don’t have to anymore—together, we can work toward healing and a better future.

My wife and I have seven children (five from birth and two from adoption). We will look at life as a classroom and use every experience for growth and strengthening for one's self and others. We will learn to regulate our emotions, develop genuine love for others, and follow a path of freedom and purpose. Our hope is to gain a passion for life and hope for the future.

I provide evidence‑based therapy grounded in clinical assessment, trauma‑informed care, and culturally responsive practice. My approach is structured, collaborative, and focused on helping clients build insight, stability, and long‑term resilience. I am completing an APA‑accredited doctoral internship in a large integrated healthcare system, where I receive supervised training across trauma recovery, inpatient mental health, and neuropsychological assessment. This includes experience with Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), crisis stabilization, diagnostic clarification, and cognitive evaluations for conditions such as TBI, dementia, and complex medical presentations. My clinical work is informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and other evidence‑based approaches. I integrate structured assessment, clear case conceptualization, and practical skills to help clients navigate PTSD, anxiety, depression, identity concerns, and life transitions. I am committed to providing care that is compassionate, culturally aware, and grounded in respect for each client’s lived experience. My goal is to create a safe, steady therapeutic space where clients can explore their concerns, strengthen coping abilities, and move toward meaningful personal growth. A military Veteran himself, Dennis brings lived experience, humility, and a steady, supportive presence to his work. He has served Veterans and adults across multiple settings, emergency departments, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, and detoxification facilities. As an Orlando-born therapist, I'm passionate about providing integrative psychotherapy to the Florida community. I pride myself on being holistic and collaborative in my clinical care for everything from everyday stress to complex mental health challenges. My approach is built on empathetic understanding, unconditional acceptance, and the belief that identifying your core values is the foundation of lasting change. I hold a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health from Stetson University (two-time George Hood Scholar) and am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) trained in trauma's impact on neurobiology and whole-body health. What sets my practice apart is a genuinely integrative lens. As Certified Yoga Teacher currently teaching at Orlando Power Yoga, and a UCF-certified nutrition specialist with graduate research in nutritional psychiatry, I explore the full lifestyle of each client. Together we will explore mind, body, and spirit with kind curiosity to find intervention points that traditional therapy alone might miss. I also believe a therapist can only take a client as far as they’re willing to go themselves. That’s why I strive to live with congruence — practicing what I encourage in others — and continue my own therapeutic work, staying committed to growth, self-awareness, and showing up as my most authentic self in the room with you. When I’m not in session, you’ll find me posted up in a local coffee shop with my daughter, pushing myself through a good workout or yoga flow, in the kitchen experimenting with something new, or chasing anything furry and four-legged. I look forward to working with you
