(he/him)
I am Dr. Andre. I hold a bachelor's degree in theology, a master's degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling/Marriage & Family Therapy, and a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy. Looking back on my previous experiences of priestly ministry, crisis prevention, community mental health services, private practice, Part-Time faculty, therapeutic skills in various systemic approaches, and Corrections, I am well equipped to journey with you and assist you in making positive changes as designed. As a professor, I teach multiple approaches, including solution-focused theory, cognitive behavior therapy, narrative therapy, and systemic approaches. I employ the intervention based on the client's needs, strengths, and stages.
In the first session, clients expect to receive information about the structure of the session and the duration of the session. I also explain to the clients that I work in solution-focused way. That means, the game will be shifted to solution-focused rather than problem-focused. However, the clients will be allowed to externalize the problems that bring them to therapy. I will establish and build rapport (a positive working relationship) by asking the asking the clients their work, relationships, and hobbies, by inquiring what the clients are good at or enjoy; and by paying clients compliments for those things. I will explore what qualities and resources that the clients already possess to help them reach their goals. I will discuss the ethical issues to ensure safety and reinforce trust.
I am culturally sensitive, inclusive and value the strengths that bring the clients to therapy. My goal is to empower them in making positive changes and decisions for a healthy well-balanced life. I do this by creating a safe, respectful and caring environment for growth and self-discovery.
I address various issues, i.e., depression, anxiety, anger, and stress management, behavioral, employment, and family & marital conflicts. Any client who struggles with one of those issues will be well served. My skills and competence in various systemic approaches enable me to envision a bright future and positive outcomes. My priestly ministry helps me to connect with anyone who is stuck, or experiences challenges in a compassionate way. I am committed to journeying with my clients and making a difference.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy is one of the evidence-based approaches that help me journey with my clients and obtain many positive outcomes. Rather than focusing on your problems, this therapy is future-focused and goal-directed. It consists of helping you use the strengths and resources you already have to solve lifeâs challenges. It facilitates creating a safe environment where you can focus on the positive aspects of yourself and your life. I ask questions that keep you focused on the present and the future based on a Solution-Focused Therapy format. Questions about the past primarily gather information about you. Solution-focused questions are intended to: ⢠help you define problems. ⢠allow you to identify strategies that have worked in the past for the same or similar problems. ⢠rate different aspects of your experience on a 1 to 10 scale. ⢠look for exceptions to problems (for example, times when you might have expected the problem to occur, but something else happened instead). ⢠encourage you to do more of what is working. ⢠provide questions that remind you about how you deal with problems positively. Based on my experiences, solution-focused intervention is very effective in assisting you in seeing the light.

My family, my husband, my two 30 something children and myself have been having therapy sessions with Dr. Andre. We started at a really unsettling time in our lives when a lot of our long standing issues were causing problems in communication and being able to live under the same roof. Dr. Andre has been able to forge relationships with each of us and understand each of our individual dynamics. His counseling sessions have greatly helped my family become whole again.
