LMHC, 20 years of experience
Hi! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in Florida and have been practicing clinical psychology for more than 20 years. I have my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees both in Psychology & Counseling and I also have experience as a Psychology Professor and Researcher. I help adults who are battling with disruptive anxiety and depression to become more equipped to manage such moods and experience their daily lives with far less stress.
In our first session, we will start introducing ourselves and setting up a professional relationship of support by encouraging trust, acceptance, and non-judgment. Then we move on to a more thorough assessment to define and better understand the reasons you decided to come to therapy. This will allow me to build a customized and ongoing plan for us to implement in the next sessions.
Having worked with individuals facing anxiety and depression-related experiences during the last 20 years, I have acquired and perfected the tools necessary to create a trusting relationship based on acceptance, active listening, and kindness. I have obtained the skills to develop a comprehensive, evidence-based, and individualized plan that allows you, not only to identify/understand the cause of your challenges but to create a therapeutic road map to effectively target them all.
I love helping adults who frequently worry about things that might happen, who get stressed out easily or feel nervous during social interactions and restlessness. I think I can greatly assist clients who frequently feel trapped with too many negative thoughts. They also experience recurrent anger, depression and have tried to “problem solve” these emotional states in their minds just to feel more tangled up. After these unsuccessful attempts, they started to think that there was something wrong with them and felt episodes of shame and discouragement.
I have been using CBT in my practice for 20 years. It has helped many clients battling with anxiety and depression. By revealing how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors specifically affect each other, we can tackle distressing moods. Also by teaching/rehearsing new behaviors that promote positive self-regulation, we provide the tools needed to help break the pattern that keeps you from living a less stressful life.
I have used the Humanistic approach for the last 20 years. By creating a non-judgmental, empathetic, warm, and safe space, we allow you to fully accept yourself as and where you are, so you can feel empowered to change or deal more effectively with difficult emotions (anxiety, depression, anger, stress).
I have been using Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy for 10 years. By cultivating the attitude of being aware of your internal states without judgment and kindly experience unpleasant emotions, you will feel less driven to use the same strategies (avoidance) that exacerbate the emotions you want to get rid of.
