With nearly 38 years of experience in the therapeutic field since 1988, I am a dedicated clinician committed to supporting individuals in their journey toward emotional well-being and recovery. My primary area of expertise is substance use disorder, followed by major depression, anxiety, and anger management. I have worked with diverse populations across a wide range of ages, cultural backgrounds, and life experiences, which has strengthened my ability to connect with clients in meaningful and respectful ways. My clinical approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), client-centered therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I prioritize reflective listening and strive to meet each client where they are, fostering a collaborative and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment. I believe that meaningful change begins with understanding, empathy, and a strong therapeutic alliance.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In your first session with me, you can expect a warm, respectful, and non-judgmental space where your voice and experiences are genuinely valued. I will focus on getting to know you, your concerns, and what brought you to seek support, while also explaining how therapy works and what you can expect going forward. Rather than pressure or criticism, my tone is collaborative and supportive, allowing you to move at your own pace. Many clients leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and hopeful, with a clearer sense of direction and reassurance that they are not facing their challenges alone.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to quickly establish rapport by creating a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment where patients feel heard and understood. My approach combines empathy with appropriate clinical structure, allowing me to build trust while maintaining accountability. I integrate evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help patients identify and change unhealthy thinking patterns and behaviors, and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to enhance motivation, resolve ambivalence, and strengthen commitment to recovery. My approach stands out because I individualize treatment to each patient’s unique needs, emphasize collaboration rather than confrontation, and balance compassion with honest clinical feedback. Patients often experience a strong first impression because I actively listen, communicate genuine respect, demonstrate confidence and professionalism, and foster hope by helping them recognize that lasting change is achievable through consistent effort and evidence-based treatment.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My primary clinical focus is working with individuals who have substance use disorders. My approach is informed by both extensive clinical training and 42 years of continuous personal recovery, which provides a unique understanding of the recovery process while maintaining professional therapeutic boundaries. I recognize that many symptoms of depression and anxiety seen in early recovery may be substance-induced or significantly worsened by the use of alcohol or other mind-altering substances. Therefore, I conduct thorough assessments to determine whether mental health symptoms are primary disorders or related to substance use before developing an individualized treatment plan. I utilize evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), relapse prevention, psychoeducation, and 12-Step principles to help patients achieve sobriety, develop healthy coping skills, and address co-occurring mental health concerns. My goal is to help individuals build a strong foundation for long-term recovery while treating both addiction and emotional wellness in an integrated, person-centered manner.
