Hi! I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in Florida. I received my Masters from the Lynn University and have been practicing for 10 years. I help adults 35 and over struggling with life stress and family dysfunction. I believe these underlying issues compose our personalities and affect how we interact with others and cause an impact on present relationships, jobs and self-esteem. The symptoms of these historical issues are anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and an ability to feel good about oneself.
First sessions can go in multiple directions depending upon each individuals style, in relation to me and your first impressions of me. I typically orient you to the ways in which I use care, empathy and compassion along with challenging poor thinking to give you a taste of how I will operate. Truth is, everyone is different and I'll adapt my style to meet each client's needs. That does not mean my overall philosophy of our past is still impacting our present will go out the window - It won't. Instead I'll adapt to your style of learning, hearing and understanding until we find a comfortable rhythm that works best.
I am older, highly trained and well versed in most older and current methodologies. This allows me to match methods and styles with clients. I have an eclectic style that does not label people or categorize them into diagnoses. We all have issues and how we approach change is unique to each of us, and problems cross many of the standard diagnostic lines making one diagnosis inappropriate for all. I have a sixth sense about where your troubles lie and can help you face them without great trepidation or fear. The work can be difficult and triggering at times, but oh so satisfying when it begins to create new ideas, thinking and behaviors in your life
I really work best with clients who have developed or adapted themselves to the difficulties of life, but who would like to learn how to be whole, satisfied and complete, more than they feel presently. Working to understand the way in which our environments have affected us allows us to gain greater perspective, change how we view our past, and learn to move forward in a healthier more functional manner.
