As a veteran therapist in my 70s, I've helped hundreds get to where they want to go. I'll come along side you - not as a sage on the stage but a guide on the side. We'll work together to explore where you've been, where you are, and where you want to go - at your pace, in your style, on your own terms. I provide a free 15-minute consultation to see if we're a good fit. I specialize in working with adults navigating through grief, failures, losses, depression, anxietym betrayals, uncertainties, setbacks, traumas, etc. I customize our sessions to your needs and wants (integrating client-centered, DBT, ACT, experiential, solution focused, and narrative modalities, from a faith-based perspective if desired). One of my life's mottos is "to see the best and to bring out the best in others." We'll explore and build on your strengths as we work towards moving from old patterns of thinking, feeling, and being that have held you back to becoming more of the best version of yourself.

Welcome! My name is Sheri and I’m glad you’re here. Starting therapy can be a big step, filling you with a sense of hope, nervousness, or something in between. Taking this journey to help yourself feel better in your own skin, or to function better in relationships, is a huge act of self-care. Sometimes our old wounds, that have yet to heal, play an unsuspecting role in our lives today. Other times, we might feel stuck or get anxiety at the thought of certain changes – even those we want to make. I really enjoy working with clients to help them better understand themselves, feel better individually and in relationship and move towards the version of themselves they want to be. You being here means that you’re taking steps in this direction. My door is open when you’re ready to begin. Feel free to schedule a 15 minute phone consultation with me to see if we are a good fit.

Do you feel overwhelmed by every day life? Are you dealing with negative thoughts that keep you from feeling your best? Do you struggle with self-care and self-compassion? Together we can identify how to help you feel in control of your thoughts, feelings and actions again. We will work towards increasing your ability to cope with difficult feelings or stressful life events and get you back on track with managing the different parts of your life. We will use mindfulness practices including meditation and gratitude to help you feel grounded and centered. Let's remember to be kind to ourselves! My experience includes working with children as young as 5, teenagers and adults. I have 14 years of experience working with teenagers as a high school counselor. I enjoy bringing art and play into sessions to help build a variety of skills and insight. Reaching out for help in any capacity can be a difficult task, especially when it comes to mental health. I am here to help and I will work toward creating a safe space for you to feel seen and heard. My style is warm, curious, engaged, and down-to-earth. I’m not the kind of therapist who sits silently and occasionally asks, “How does that make you feel?” I’ll be right there with you—asking questions, noticing patterns, offering perspective, and sometimes bringing humor into the room when it feels right. I work especially well with thoughtful, self-aware people who have done a lot of thinking about themselves but still find themselves caught in patterns they can’t quite think their way out of. You may be successful and capable on the outside while privately struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, perfectionism, relationship patterns, or a persistent sense that something is missing. I also work with people who feel disconnected—from their emotions, their relationships, or even themselves. Sometimes that disconnection developed for very good reasons. If you learned early in life to stay in control, rely on yourself, push feelings aside, or keep others at a distance, those strategies may have helped you survive difficult experiences but now leave you feeling stuck or alone. My approach is grounded largely in Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment theory, mindfulness, and somatic work. Rather than asking, “What’s wrong with you?” we get curious about what happened, what you learned to do to survive or belong, and what different parts of you may still be trying to protect. Our work is about more than understanding yourself. It’s about experiencing yourself differently—with more compassion, more choice, deeper connection, and less internal noise.

Before I was a therapist, I worked for many years in art and community organizations, and I tend to be a good fit for artists, activists and unconventional thinkers. A little about me: I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who, come to find out, originally got into this field largely to figure myself out. If you’ve never heard that from a therapist before, it’s actually a pretty common thread among us, we often subconsciously step into healing others as a way to find healing within ourselves. About 22 years ago, I was diagnosed with Complex PTSD, and roughly 15 years ago, I received an OCD diagnosis. Having these two conditions overlap made things incredibly challenging throughout much of my life and if I’m being completely honest, navigating that balance can still have its moments today. But there’s something powerful about a wounded healer: we tend to want more for ourselves and for the people we serve than just standard, status-quo talk therapy. We dig deeper because we need real answers on a personal level, and once we find what works, we want to share it with the world.

With over to 20 years of experience working alongside children, teens, adults, and families, I’ve learned the importance of meeting people exactly where they are, whether mentally, emotionally, or sometimes even physically. My “out-of-the-box” approach is flexible and adaptable to each individual's unique needs, offering creative, client-centered strategies where you can feel safe, supported, and empowered to explore at your own pace. My journey began in community-based settings, working with individuals and families often navigating complex systems. That foundation shaped my core belief: to show up to each session with curiosity and deep respect for each person’s unique story. My approach has always been to meet clients where they are, helping them discover healthier coping mechanisms and become more effective in their daily lives. Therapy with me is not one-size-fits-all. I tailor each session to your unique needs, integrating different modalities to support your growth in ways that feel natural and accessible to you. As your therapist, I show up as my authentic self, with the intention of creating a space where you feel safe, supported, and empowered to explore at your own pace. I offer an environment where you can express yourself freely, gain deeper insight into your thoughts and emotions, and develop tools to navigate life’s challenges more effectively.

You don’t have to hold it all alone. I offer fiercely affirming therapy for highly sensitive people, adult children of emotionally immature parents, and parents doing the hard, beautiful work of healing while raising others. My approach is rooted in trauma-informed care, attachment-based work, and nervous system healing. As a mother of two young children, I don’t just understand attachment theory, I live it. That lived experience shows up in my work every day. Both therapy and parenting ask us to keep showing up; even when it's hard, even when it's not perfect. I’m in it with you, and I’m honored to be part of that process. I have a particular passion for working with folks who grew up being told they were too much, too sensitive, too emotional. People who learned to stay small to stay connected. Together, we unlearn those survival strategies and build something more intentional, more grounded, and more authentically yours. All sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship structures are welcome. If the world hasn't felt safe, especially for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ folks, and women, you’re not imagining it. You don’t have to prove your worth here. You get to take up space, as you are.

If you’re looking for a therapist who will actually listen—who won’t dismiss your concerns or pathologize your pain—you’re in the right place. Maybe you're wondering if you have ADHD, autism, or anxiety. Maybe you've been masking for years and don’t know where to start. Maybe you're carrying trauma, grief, or a deep sense that something has always felt a little off. I work with people who’ve spent too long feeling misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or minimized—and are ready for something different. You don’t need a perfect narrative. You don’t need to show up polished. You don’t even need to be sure what you need yet. With over 11 years of experience, I specialize in working with neurodivergent and emotionally complex clients—including first responders, trauma survivors, and members of the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities. I have a Master’s in Clinical Counseling, a Master’s in Forensic Psychology, and I’m currently completing a Ph.D. in Forensic Psychology. I combine clinical insight with curiosity, humor, and a belief in your capacity to grow—even if it’s messy.

I provide warm, collaborative, trauma-informed therapy that integrates attachment-focused and somatic perspectives. In our work, we may explore how past experiences, relationships, emotions, and nervous system responses continue to shape the way you experience yourself and the people around you today. My goal is not simply to help you manage symptoms, but to help you understand yourself more deeply, reconnect with your own needs and strengths, and develop new ways of responding that feel more aligned with the life and relationships you want.

I am an affirmative therapist and am LGBTQIA+ allied (I myself identify as gender queer and pansexual), BLM allied, Indigenous/native allied, API allied, Latinx allied, Disability allied, Deaf allied, Vegan allied (I myself am Vegan), and polyamory allied. I specialize in serving patients suffering suicide loss at any stage of the loss. I also specialize in attachment/family systems informed individual care and CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia). I also hold particular interest and experience in serving adults with ASD, ID or DD, adult children of narcissists, those who have suffered brainwashing and those who have suffered paranormal trauma. I have years of experience in serving patients with a multitude of mental health and relational difficulties. I consider my orientation as a therapist to be first and foremost client-centered and strength-based. Although I utilize various therapeutic approaches, I chiefly consider myself to be a narrative/Rogerian therapist. This means that I work to help my patients take back the power and control over their own stories and assist them by co-authoring a narrative that truly witnesses and respects their traumas, tragedies, injustices, achievements, triumphs, milestones, strengths, and resiliency. I do this while holding empathy, congruency and unconditional positive regard as my three major tenants in the therapeutic alliance. I specialize in therapy for: adult individuals suffering depression, anxiety, interpersonal/relational difficulties, traumatic grief, suicide loss, relational and attachment traumas, victims of psychological torture/emotional abuse/brainwashing, adult children of narcissists, sufferers of paranormal traumas, military and first-responder trauma, vegans, LGBTQIA+, adults with Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Intellectual Disability (ID), Developmental disabilities (DD), people struggling with life stressors, and those struggling with identity.

Hello! My name is Cassandra Solano, and I am a trauma-informed somatic therapist, RELATIONSHIP EXPERT, and spiritual enthusiast. When I'm not running around with my 4 kids, working in my garden, on a hiking trail, or drinking kombucha with my sweet husband, I love helping people who are single or unhappy in their relationships FIND THE LOVE THEY WANT with psychological intervention + spiritual healing. If you're looking for someone who will have NO judgment for you (because honey, I've likely been there), has years of treating people from a holistic perspective, and can help you heal from the past trauma that is keeping you from having the relationship, parenting, or recovery experience you want, I'm here for you! If you are struggling to find love, having challenges in your relationships or career, sense you are disconnected from living your truth, or often feel lonely and like you don't belong, you may be suffering from attachment trauma and unrecognized childhood emotional abuse/neglect. Codependency, people pleasing, feeling burnt out and overwhelmed are common experiences when we're dragging around unhealed past wounds, limiting beliefs and need to learn to put ourselves first, communicate well and set boundaries. You may already realize your childhood is influencing the quality of your life today, and need someone with a therapeutic background that can help you go deep for lasting healing.

I believe the main goal of therapy is to remove the obstacles and blockages that preclude us from being genuine. My approach is straightforward yet compassionate. As your therapist, I simply hold the mirror up and allow you to reveal the parts of yourself that have broken off over the years as a result of stress, trauma, depression, anxiety, and other unresolved issues. Together we mitigate the impact of maladaptive behaviors and search for answers that are more closely aligned with your goals. The answers to many of life’s problems are internal, but we have been conditioned otherwise. I have over 20 years’ experience treating mental health and addiction issues. I use a solution focus that incorporates a wide variety of modalities tapered to your needs. I treat many issues including family of origin, addiction, primary mental health, couples, trauma, and more. I am an EMDR trained therapist, and I help clients to process painful experiences that disrupt your life and well-being. I am hesitant to ascribe to any one therapeutic orientation. Everybody is different. I combine breathwork, meditation, ACT, CBT, as well existentialism and spirituality. I look forward to working with you on your path to wellness

Hi I am Kao, I firmly believe that as humans we have an innate desire for growth and balance. Unfortunately, often we physically respond to ingrained negative cues and messages that get stuck in our body. Many times these old cues manifest themselves in our body as anxiety, depression, and other trauma responses. It can feel like we are living life just trying to cope with the loudness of these negative messages. What if instead of just gaining tools to “cope” with these trauma responses, we could eliminate them all together? How might your life look? My hope is that in our work together we will be able to address wounds and move towards healing so that you don’t have to “cope” anymore. Instead you can thrive and have a sense of self-awareness that brings constant peace and clarity.

My approach is warm, curious, and down-to-earth, and I care deeply about creating a space where you can be completely yourself; whether you’re working through anxiety, relationships, trauma, life transitions, or simply trying to understand yourself on a deeper level. I see therapy as a place to understand what you’ve been carrying, reconnect with yourself, and ultimately create a life with less suffering and a lot more intention.

Hi, I'm Melissa. I believe we are already whole—even in the messy, uncertain, beautifully human parts of life. Therapy isn't about fixing you or getting rid of the parts that feel hard; it's about getting curious, understanding yourself more deeply, and creating a life that feels authentic to who you are. As a neurodivergent-affirming therapist (and fellow neurospicy human), I know what it's like to spend years wondering if you're too much, not enough, or somehow doing life "wrong." My hope is to offer a space where you can set that down for a while. Together, we'll explore your experiences with curiosity instead of judgment, helping you reconnect with yourself and create a life that feels authentic, aligned, and true to you. I bring warmth, humor, and a little bit of whimsy into the therapy room because healing doesn't have to feel cold or clinical. Some of my favorite moments are when clients begin to trust themselves again, reconnect with the parts of themselves they've hidden away, and remember that they were never broken to begin with.

Hi, I’m Selena! As a first-generation therapist from the Latinx community, I understand that life can come with layers of family expectations, cultural values, responsibility, and the feeling that you’re supposed to just “figure it out.” I know how important it can be to have someone who understands those nuances without judgment. I’m a warm, collaborative therapist who believes you shouldn’t have to pretend to have it all together in therapy. I strive to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are—messy, overwhelmed, confused, motivated, or somewhere in between. My approach is genuine, validating, and relatable. I use humor when it feels right, because sometimes you need to laugh at the absurdity of life before you can figure out what to do with it. I’m not here to sit across from you and act like I have all the answers. I’m here to listen, understand, ask the hard questions when needed, and help you make sense of what you’re experiencing.

I am committed to helping people regain a sense of purpose and greater understanding about what they are struggling with. I work to empower them to have some control in a chaotic world around or within them. I have worked with individuals, couples, and families throughout the greater San Diego area over the past ten years. I can offer a safe and non-judgemental space to discuss your issues where you can feel seen and heard. My aim will be to understand who you are and the world you are in to create more meaning as you begin to heal. Sometimes we can lose our way, lose sight of ourselves, or even put distance between those we love. I am passionate about helping people find their way back to themselves and work towards reconnecting with their family or community.

Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in California. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
