Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in North Carolina. I am licensed in both NC and CA. I received my Masters from the University of Southern California. I have been practicing for 8 years with 15 years experience in the mental health field. I help young adults, and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, self-esteem challenges, and simply the ups and downs of life.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing, what works for you and what doesn't work for you, and your expectations as a client. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through. From the first session I strive to create a trusting, safe environment where you feel you can be your authentic self without judgement. I pride myself in being compassionate and understanding. I will challenge you to look within yourself and empower you to make changes at your own pace.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Having worked with people of all ages and backgrounds for the past 15 years, I've developed the ability to genuinely connect with others, help others feel heard and seen, identify strengths and areas that are challenging, and empowering others to make positive changes in their lives.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

“Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen. Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It's about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our true selves be seen. Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change.” (Brene Brown). If this resonates with you, you may be ready to take the next courageous steps towards self discovery and greater clarity in your purpose. Without clarity of ourselves and the situations that we have experienced throughout our lives, we may feel powerless and feel that we don't have choice to improve our lives. I love working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds who are struggling to find their sense of self and purpose, maintain healthy relationships, and have an overall satisfaction in life.

Maya has done a great job making me feel comfortable enough to open up about key points in my life. My focus is on understanding and moving forward, and Maya does a good job of helping me reach that goal by of asking me questions that challenge my perspective on things.

My treatment methods

Attachment-based

I have used Attachment-based therapy to help individuals rebuild trust in relationships, understand their attachment styles, and learn to express emotions. I've assisted individuals identify early attachment experiences with primary caregivers (and other important relationships) and how those relationships can affect a person's ability to develop healthy relationships. I've assisted individuals address thoughts, feelings, communications, behaviors, and interpersonal exchanges that they may have learned to suppress or overemphasize because of these early experiences.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have used CBT to help individuals identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors. I have assisted individuals explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and how they are interconnected and one can affect another. I have assisted individuals identify inaccurate or negative thinking so they can practice challenging those thought processes and respond to them in a more effective and productive way. I have also used CBT to support individuals with diagnosis of PTSD or affected by past trauma.

Trauma Informed Care

I have used TIC to support individuals to regain a sense of safety, power, and self-worth, which they may have lost do to a traumatic experience.

Eclectic

I have many years of experience in combining techniques from various therapeutic approaches to best meet the individual needs of the client. It starts with assessment and understanding the client, then developing a personalized treatment plan, flexibility in technique application, and building a strong therapeutic relationship and incorporating psychoeducation.
