I believe the main goal of therapy is to remove the obstacles and blockages that preclude us from being genuine. My approach is straightforward yet compassionate. As your therapist, I simply hold the mirror up and allow you to reveal the parts of yourself that have broken off over the years as a result of stress, trauma, depression, anxiety, and other unresolved issues. Together we mitigate the impact of maladaptive behaviors and search for answers that are more closely aligned with your goals. The answers to many of life’s problems are internal, but we have been conditioned otherwise. I have over 20 years’ experience treating mental health and addiction issues. I use a solution focus that incorporates a wide variety of modalities tapered to your needs. I treat many issues including family of origin, addiction, primary mental health, couples, trauma, and more. I am an EMDR trained therapist, and I help clients to process painful experiences that disrupt your life and well-being. I am hesitant to ascribe to any one therapeutic orientation. Everybody is different. I combine breathwork, meditation, ACT, CBT, as well existentialism and spirituality. I look forward to working with you on your path to wellness

First session

90% of therapy is rapport. If the therapist and the client connect, then work can be done. I spend the first few sessions getting to know the client, and likewise, allowing them to get to know me. This is crucial. I am kind and compassionate, yet direct when needed.

Strengths

I have worked in the field of mental health and substance abuse for 22 years. I have experience in all facets of care. I have dealt with all types of clients from different backgrounds and personal stories. I believe that I can connect well with clients, I am easy to speak with, and I will also self-disclose and share parts of my own story if appropriate, if it will help the client in their healing journey.

Ideal clients

I am looking for individuals who want to make changes in their lives, with a little help, of course. A client that is open and motivated, who can take feedback as needed, and who will make an attempt to effect the necessary changes in their lives. I like to hear from those in pursuit of the existential void and how to find a way out of this; trying to figure out who and what drives them everyday. I want clients to feel empowered to feel that they can ultimately heal themselves through diligent work and practical application of learned skills. Clients will ultimately understand that therapy is finite, and eventually, they will move on and be the best versions of themselves.

Treatment methods

Attachment-based

We are all part of systems, and it starts with families. By exploring your own family system you can gain key insights into how and why we interact the way we do.

EMDR

EMDR is an evidenced-based approach to reconcile trauma, as well as addiction, depression, anxiety, and other issues. This modality puts clients in the driver's seat and allows the client to heal their own mind from within in a safe and effective way.
