I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 16 years of experience. One of my main focus has been trauma and infant mental health, providing dyadic treatment to families. I am a trauma informed clinician with an attachment based lens. My formal schooling was Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Structural Family Therapy. However, throughout my early years I have found a deeper connection as a therapist to Attachment Therapy. I have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Motivational Interviewing (MI), these are all evidence based treatments.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
I want to know what brings you in for treatment today. Why now? I like to start with building a relationship with my clients. This is a time we both get to see if we are a good fit for each other. I do ask lots of questions about your past to see what type of treatment you would benefit from.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strengths is my compassion and genuine human capacity to building a trusting relationship. Without trust and a safe place allowing vulnerability, emotions, wounds to heal is challenging.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I have found with years of experiences and training with attachment, trauma, and phases of life allows me to work with individuals in different phases of their life. I enjoy working with kids and their families, walking with my parents through their journey navigating parenting, working with individuals that are experiencing life stressors and phase of life transitions (divorce, lose, perimenopause/menopause, health issues, relationships, family dynamics etc.). Every person/family has their own story and struggles. It is my job to walk with you during your journey. I love working with individual that want to gain more insight into their own emotional struggles.
Attachment-based
I was trained and have multiple years of experience and training in Infant Mental Health. I believe attachment styles impact our lives (relationships, intimacy, work/school success etc.)
Child Parent Psychotherapy
I am a CPP and EMDR trained therapist. I understand how trauma can impact a person starting in utero to adulthood and what symptoms are trauma related. I have been trained in multiple trauma modalities to provide treatment. I educate my clients on trauma and what happens in our bodies when we experience a trauma and how that experience can continue to manifest in our everyday living.
Psychoeducation
I educate my clients on mental health and how that impacts our living environment, families, work, personal experiences. We discuss symptoms and behaviors of their mental health and how our internal workings are communicating with us and with others daily.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have used CBT throughout my career. I used this treatment modality primary in adults.
EMDR
I am a trained EMDR therapist. I utilize the resourcing strategies in session to support the brain and body first. Until we can strengthen and identify the single episode or the initial trauma experience, going through the other steps are more challenging.
