I have been working in the field of mental health for 14 years. I have experience working with a diverse range of people and mental health disorders. My professional background includes experience in the inpatient, outpatient, and intake hospital setting; non-profit agency setting; and, most recently, private practice. This experience allowed me the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, adults, and families utilizing a variety of unique interventions including cognitive-behavioral therapy, play therapy, eye movement desensitization (EMDR), and sand tray. I specialize in the treatment of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but I often take a client centered approach when building a trusting relationship with clients. Research shows that people who experience chronic mental health concerns have untreated trauma, which can occur from a variety of different experiences. Of course, trauma does not account for all mental health concerns, so it is important to be able to meet client's where they are at and provide interventions that are helpful to the individual needs of each client.

I work with clients who want to improve the way they experience life. The desire for better relationships with themselves and with others, and to gain a sense of purpose and meaning. I’ve always been interested in what drives people and believe that we can usually discover what is best for ourselves if we slow down, take the time to think things through, talk about it with a person we trust, and express the feelings we have in healthy ways—even the negative ones we may try to avoid. I use a number of therapeutic modalities in my practice, which connect thoughts to feelings and feelings to thoughts, enabling my clients to change and grow in the positive direction that they might envision for themselves. I work with clients who have struggled with addiction, anger, anxiety, depression, relationship separation, internal conflict and conflict with others, grief and loss, and other transitions and adjustment issues. I have completed Gottman trainings, as well as Emotion-Focused Therapy, which offers a structured approach and an emotional map for couples or individuals to learn how successful couples make their relationships last and how to handle conflict in a way that prevents damage to the relationship and helps them feel better connected to their partner. I am also trained in EMDR, a therapy designed to help a person unlock their nervous system to recover from trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other problems that can take hold.

I earned a Doctorate in Social Work and master’s degrees in both Social Work and Public Health. I hold clinical licensure in Missouri and Illinois.
My approach to therapy is that it should be used as a tool to provide the knowledge, help, and support needed to understand problems and develop skills to cope with them. I use Cognitive Behavioral techniques to help clients develop insight and new skills. In addition, I am experienced with trauma-informed practice, including trauma-focused CBT, as well as using mindfulness techniques. I lean towards the use of evidence-based interventions from diverse models to fit the needs of the individual so treatment can be tailored to fit your individual needs. My counseling experience includes mental health and wellness, self-care practices, health and behavioral health advocacy, interpersonal/family conflict and wellness, healthy relationships, children and adolescents, depression, grief and loss, stress, anxiety, crisis management, and anger management. My specialties are working with people struggling with depression, anxiety, anger issues, personal crises, and family relationship issues. I actively work to help clients feel supported and empowered throughout the therapeutic process. I look forward to this journey with you!
Feeling stuck, stressed, or overwhelmed? I provide a compassionate, supportive space where clients can navigate anxiety, self-doubt, and life transitions with greater clarity and confidence. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, connected to yourself, and empowered to create the life you want. I work with young and older adults navigating anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders, life transitions, PTSD/ trauma, relationship issues, and self-esteem challenges. Together, we’ll build coping skills and create a personalized plan for growth that feels empowering and achievable.
