I am Robertha Moore, LPC, a Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to supporting individuals and families in achieving improved mental health and overall well-being. I am licensed to provide professional counseling services in Louisiana, Minnesota, and Ohio through the Counseling Compact\. I provide counseling services to individuals ages 5 and older and work with clients across various stages of life and personal challenges. I have worked in the mental health field since 2013 and became a licensed professional counselor in 2023. With more than a decade of experience in the mental health field, I am passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where my clients feel heard, respected, and empowered\. My goal is to help each client develop healthy coping skills, strengthen emotional well-being, and work toward meaningful personal growth. Through my professional experience and commitment to helping others, I strive to provide compassionate, client-centered counseling tailored to each individual’s unique needs. I believe that every person has strengths within them, and I am committed to helping my clients recognize those strengths, overcome challenges, and build a healthier and more fulfilling life.
Your first counseling session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship. During this session, we will discuss important details about your experiences, your current concerns, and what brought you to seek counseling. You will also have an opportunity to learn more about me, my counseling approach, and what you can expect throughout the counseling process. Together, we will explore the things that are important to you, identify your goals, and discuss how counseling can support you on your journey. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment where you feel comfortable being yourself. Together, we will work toward building on your strengths, developing healthy coping skills, and helping you become a stronger, more confident version of yourself.
The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach stands out to me because it is practical, goal-oriented, and evidence-based. I value how CBT helps clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and empowers them to make meaningful changes in their daily lives. I appreciate that it gives clients practical tools and coping strategies they can use both inside and outside of the counseling setting. Most importantly, I believe CBT helps clients recognize their strengths, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and build confidence as they work toward lasting emotional growth and resilience.
My ideal clients are children who have experienced difficult or challenging circumstances that may affect their emotions, behavior, focus, and ability to learn\. I enjoy working with children who may begin to act out, withdraw, struggle with emotional regulation, or have difficulty staying focused in school and at home\. I believe that challenging experiences do not define a child’s future\. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment where children can express their feelings, develop healthy coping skills, build confidence, and recognize their strengths\. Through counseling, I work alongside children and their families to help them overcome obstacles and develop the tools they need to thrive academically, emotionally, socially, and personally\.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is used to helping individuals to identify negative thoughts and emotions. CBT therapy works to identify the reasons for these feelings and what is causing them. The treatment focuses on ways to stop the negative thinking and work to have more positive thinking to improve quality of life.
