Born & raised in San Antonio, I am enthusiastically entering the empty-nest stage of my life. Since going off to graduate school in the northeast, my devotion to helping marginalized communities has remained steadfast. Gratitude, hope & resiliency certainly are my touch stones. I love listening to music, reading, traveling & quality time with my cuddly companion - Yorkie Poo. Volunteering is also a passion of mine.

Hello, I am Dr. Walter Calvo and I have two questions for you. Are you interested in learning why you think and feel the way you do? How about learning why you choose to do the things that you do? I can help you learn coping skills to address common life challenges such as adjusting to change, managing conflict, reducing stress, improving relationships, and coping with grief. Equally important, I can help you process your emotional responses to distressing life circumstances. I also provide psychotherapy to address acute trauma, post-traumatic stress, anxiety and depression. My experience in this area comes from working with active-duty military, veterans, and first responders such as law enforcement, firefighters, emergency medical responders and their families. Gaining insight into why you think and feel the way you do is empowering. It will put you on a path to becoming the best version of yourself. If you are interested in any of that, let's talk!

Hello and welcome. You have taken a big step towards helping yourself. I hope that I have the privilege of working with you. My name is Yvette Ramirez, and I am a licensed professional counselor. I graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I continued my education at Capella University and graduated with a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling. I started my counseling career working with clients I visited in their homes and helped them understand their diagnosis, teach them how to cope with their symptoms, and taught the importance of medication adherence. I was promoted to the Integrated Care department where I practiced solution-focused therapy with clients whose medical issues exasperated their mental health issues, or vice versa. I was trained and certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in the State of Texas and continue to utilize CBT in my practice today. I was promoted to a supervisory position for the Assertive Community Treatment Team and led a team of 13 case managers, nurses, and LCDCs, who worked with clients who were high utilizers of the local mental health hospitals and were in crisis often. I was the lead counselor for the team. and was trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy to assist our clients with the trauma they have endured and taught them to challenge the negative thoughts they had about themselves regarding the trauma. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprogramming to help those who have lived through a traumatic event that is causing distress in their lives, or clients who endure distress they find difficult to handle. I have worked with individuals, couples and families seeking counseling for over 10 years, both online and in person, and expanded my counseling career working with children, adolescents, and teenagers now for 8 years.

Hey there! Are you feeling a little overwhelmed lately? You’re not alone. Maybe you’ve been juggling a million things, second-guessing yourself, or trying to keep everyone else happy while quietly burning out. If that sounds familiar, I see you and I’d love to help. I work with millennials, professionals and creatives who are ready to stop running on autopilot and start feeling more connected, calm, and confident in their own skin. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, going through a big life transition, struggling with boundaries, or just feeling “off,” we’ll work together to make sense of it and create space for something new. In our sessions, you can expect compassion, curiosity, and maybe even a little humor when it fits. I use an integrative approach rooted in evidence-based practices like CBT, but I also bring creativity and flexibility into the process because therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, and neither are you. This is your space to breathe, reflect, and grow. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to show up and we’ll take it from there, together.

Are there things in your life that you want to change to be happier, feel better about yourself, come to terms with things from the past, or have better relationships with others? If you do, I believe that counseling can help you achieve the kind of life you want to have. I'm a clinical psychologist specializing in treatment of post traumatic stress, anxiety, and depression. I have over 20 years of experience as a therapist and I am trained in multiple types of therapies. I'm originally from Oregon, but I have spent most of my adult life in Texas and a few years overseas in Asia and Europe. In addition to private practice, I have been a military psychologist, Veterans Affairs psychologist, PTSD clinic director, Psycho-Social Rehabilitation clinic director, and adjunct clinical assistant professor at UT Health medical school, as well as participating in major research projects in treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder. I believe that therapy is a science as well as an art, and I have found that my knowledge of clinical research can greatly improve the results of counseling. I have found that counseling can be very effective at helping people make the kinds of changes that they desire in their lives, help them to have a healthier sense of self, more satisfying relationships with others, and a better quality of life. I'm confident that you can meet your goals with a bit of work and the right treatment plan.

I have worked in diverse mental health settings and have been practicing therapy since 2015. I am the oldest daughter of immigrants and a first generation college graduate. From a very young age I felt the weight of expectations put on to me by my family, society, and my culture. I became very good at taking on roles that were not mine, and quickly burned myself out. It wasn’t until graduate school that I really allowed myself to explore the root of my unhappiness. I needed to stop doing for everyone else and finally make myself the priority; I mattered too. I now enjoy empowering individuals to find their voice and discover the freedom that comes with letting go of past hurt and behaviors that no longer serve them, and finally pursue the life they’ve always wanted.

Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience in the mental health field, providing compassionate care in Texas. My academic journey began at Texas State University, where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, followed by a Master’s degree from Our Lady of the Lake University with a concentration in Services to Families. Throughout my career, I have worked in various settings, including as a therapist for children and families, at a substance abuse treatment facility, and within community organizations. These diverse experiences have enriched my understanding and equipped me to address the complex challenges clients face. My practice is deeply rooted in empathy and a strong commitment to healing. I support children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, substance abuse, and life stressors. I also assist clients in navigating grief, life transitions, and complex relationship dynamics. Having grown up in a military family, I possess unique insights into the challenges faced by military families, enabling me to offer specialized support and empathy to those navigating the complexities of military life. I utilize evidence-based techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, to help clients overcome struggles and achieve positive outcomes. Life's challenges can feel like a relentless storm, leaving us feeling adrift and overwhelmed. In these moments, we may feel lost, with no clear direction or sense of safety. However, even the most powerful storms have an end. I offer a safe, supportive space to explore your feelings and find your way through the storm. You don't have to face these challenges alone; I am here to walk with you every step of the way. Together, we will navigate these turbulent waters, uncovering your strength and resilience.

Since 2012, I’ve walked alongside clients in the U.S. and India as they’ve navigated life's turning points—moments of doubt, discovery, and deep transformation. I believe life unfolds in many shades. It’s not always fair or predictable, but with understanding and acceptance, we can find meaning and joy in even the most unexpected colors. My experience spans working with children, young adults, college students, couples, individuals, and families across culturally diverse backgrounds. Whether it’s helping a teenager find their voice, guiding a couple through conflict, or supporting someone through personal growth, I create a safe, nonjudgmental space that nurtures insight and healing. I hold onto the truth that obstacles often carry the seeds of growth. My role isn't to erase life’s challenges, but to support people in understanding them, responding with courage, and growing stronger in the process.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Texas rather than a city like Dallas?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Texas from Houston to Austin! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Texas.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Depression?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Depression, is filtering therapists in Texas that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
