Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 12 years of experience providing compassionate care in Texas. My academic journey began at Texas State University, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, followed by a Master's degree from Our Lady of the Lake University, focusing on Services to Families. Throughout my career, I have worked in various settings, including as a therapist for children and families, at a substance abuse treatment facility, and within community organizations. These diverse experiences have enriched my understanding and equipped me to address the complex challenges clients face. My practice is deeply rooted in empathy and a strong commitment to healing. I support children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, substance abuse, and life stressors. I also assist clients in navigating grief, life transitions, and complex relationship dynamics. Having grown up in a military family, I possess unique insights into the challenges faced by military families, enabling me to offer specialized support and empathy to those navigating the complexities of military life. I utilize evidence-based techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, to help clients overcome struggles and achieve positive outcomes. Life's challenges can feel like a relentless storm, leaving us feeling adrift and overwhelmed. In these moments, we may feel lost, with no clear direction or sense of safety. However, even the most powerful storms have an end. I offer a safe, supportive space to explore your feelings and find your way through the storm. You don't have to face these challenges alone; I am here to walk with you every step of the way. Together, we will navigate these turbulent waters, uncovering your strength and resilience.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session with me, you can expect a warm and welcoming environment where you can openly share your concerns and goals. We will start by discussing your current challenges and what you hope to achieve through Therapy. I will gather some background information to better understand your situation, and together we will explore your strengths and areas you would like to work on. The initial session is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions about the therapeutic process. My aim is to make you feel comfortable and supported as we begin your journey towards healing and growth.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a provider, my greatest strengths lie in my empathy, comprehensive understanding of diverse challenges, and evidence-based approach to therapy. I excel at creating a compassionate and non-judgmental space where clients feel safe and heard. My background with military families has enhanced my ability to support them effectively. Additionally, my expertise in evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy ensures that my clients receive tailored interventions that foster positive outcomes and promote healing and growth.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

As a clinical social worker using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I help clients modify unhelpful thoughts and behaviors to improve their mental health. I assess their needs, set goals, and apply CBT techniques while considering their social context. My approach includes empowering clients, leveraging their strengths, and providing psychoeducation. I monitor progress and adjust treatment as needed to ensure effective and personalized care.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

As a clinical social worker using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), I focus on helping clients manage intense emotions and improve interpersonal relationships. DBT combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. I work with clients to build skills for handling crises, balancing acceptance with change, and enhancing their quality of life. My practice involves individual therapy, skills training groups, and ongoing support to ensure comprehensive, personalized care.

Grief Therapy

As a clinical social worker using Grief Therapy, I support clients through the process of coping with and healing from loss. I help individuals understand and navigate their unique grief experiences, providing strategies to manage their emotions and adjust to life changes. My approach includes creating a safe space for expressing feelings, exploring the impact of the loss, and developing coping skills to promote healing and resilience. Through individual or group sessions, I offer empathetic support and practical tools to aid in the grieving process and foster emotional recovery.

Motivational Interviewing

As a clinical social worker, I utilize Motivational Interviewing (MI) to support my clients in making positive changes. MI is a client-centered approach that helps clients explore and resolve their ambivalence about change. By expressing empathy, developing discrepancy between clients' goals and their current behaviors, rolling with resistance, and supporting self-efficacy, I create a collaborative and non-judgmental environment. This approach empowers clients to articulate their own reasons for change and to develop personalized plans, making it particularly effective for issues like substance use and health behavior changes.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

As a clinical social worker, I utilize Cultural Sensitivity Therapy to effectively support my clients from diverse backgrounds. This approach involves understanding and respecting each client's cultural beliefs, values, and practices. By integrating cultural awareness into therapy, I create a safe and inclusive environment where clients feel understood and respected. This therapy helps in addressing issues related to identity, discrimination, and cultural conflicts. By acknowledging and incorporating cultural factors, I can better tailor interventions and strategies to meet the unique needs of each client, ultimately fostering a more effective therapeutic relationship and promoting positive outcomes.
