New to Grow
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas with over two years of professional counseling experience. I work with individuals facing stress, anxiety, parenting challenges, low self-esteem, motivation concerns, and confidence issues. I believe that you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where we can build on your strengths to help you overcome life's challenges. Before becoming a counselor, I spent many years as an educator, giving me valuable insight into the unique pressures and demands faced by teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, counselors, and other educational professionals. I understand the emotional toll that workplace stress, burnout, and balancing personal and professional responsibilities can have, and I am passionate about helping education professionals prioritize their mental well-being. I am also committed to supporting individuals who are considering or undergoing plastic or bariatric surgery. I understand that these life-changing decisions involve more than physical transformation—they also bring emotional, psychological, and relational adjustments. My goal is to help clients develop a healthy relationship with their bodies, navigate body-image concerns, and build the emotional resilience needed for lasting success. In addition, I specialize in working with postpartum depression and relationship concerns. My therapeutic approach is client-centered, compassionate, and collaborative. I incorporate evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness techniques, and person-centered therapy, to help clients develop practical coping skills, increase self-awareness, and create meaningful, lasting change. Seeking counseling is a courageous step, and you don't have to navigate life's challenges alone. Whether you're working through anxiety, adjusting to a major life transition, strengthening relationships, or striving for personal growth, I am committed to helping you achieve your goals and improve your overall quality of life.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it's completely normal to feel nervous, uncertain, or even excited. Your first session is designed to help us get to know each other and create a safe, supportive space where you can begin your healing journey. During our first session, we will: Get to know each other. I'll ask questions about what brought you to therapy, your current concerns, and what you hope to accomplish. This is also your opportunity to ask questions and decide whether I feel like the right fit for you. Review your personal history. We may discuss your family background, relationships, work or school, medical history, and any previous counseling experiences. This helps me better understand your unique story. Identify your goals. Together, we'll talk about what you would like to change or improve in your life. Whether you're seeking relief from anxiety, navigating a difficult relationship, coping with a life transition, or simply wanting to understand yourself better, we'll begin creating a plan that fits your needs. Discuss confidentiality. I'll explain how your privacy is protected, as well as the few situations where I am legally and ethically required to break confidentiality to help keep you or others safe. Develop a plan moving forward. Before we finish, we'll discuss recommendations for treatment, possible therapeutic approaches, and what future sessions may look like. There is no pressure to share everything during your first appointment. Therapy is a process, and trust develops over time. You are welcome to move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My goal is to provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, respected, and supported. Together, we'll work toward helping you build the skills, insight, and confidence needed to create meaningful and lasting change.
I believe that every person has the ability to grow, heal, and create meaningful change when they feel heard, understood, and supported. My approach is warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I strive to create a safe space where you can openly explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at your own pace. I use an integrative approach to therapy, tailoring treatment to your unique needs, strengths, and goals. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all method, I draw from evidence-based practices, including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. Person-Centered Therapy to provide empathy, acceptance, and a supportive environment where you feel empowered to grow. Solution-Focused Therapy to build on your strengths and identify practical steps toward achieving your goals. Mindfulness-Based Techniques to increase self-awareness, reduce stress, and improve emotional regulation. Motivational Interviewing to help you resolve ambivalence and strengthen motivation for change. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills to develop healthy coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, increase distress tolerance, and strengthen interpersonal relationships. Together, we will work to better understand the challenges you're facing, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop practical tools you can use in your everyday life. My goal is not only to help you find relief from current struggles but also to help you build resilience, confidence, and lasting emotional well-being. I believe therapy is a partnership. You are the expert on your life, and I bring clinical knowledge, guidance, and support. Together, we'll create a treatment plan that reflects your values, respects your experiences, and helps you move toward the life you want to live.
My ideal clients are educators, individuals preparing for or adjusting to bariatric surgery, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, or major life transitions. They may feel overwhelmed by the demands of their careers, relationships, or personal responsibilities and are seeking a safe, supportive space to process their experiences. Educators often come to therapy feeling emotionally exhausted, burned out, or struggling to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Individuals considering or recovering from bariatric surgery may be adjusting to significant physical, emotional, and lifestyle changes while working to build a healthier relationship with themselves and others. Clients experiencing anxiety or depression may feel stuck, discouraged, or uncertain about how to move forward.
I believe that effective therapy is personalized because every client's experiences, strengths, and goals are unique. Rather than relying on a single therapeutic model, I use an integrative approach, selecting evidence-based treatment methods that best fit each client's needs. I frequently incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients recognize and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and stress. Person-Centered Therapy serves as the foundation of my practice by creating a supportive, empathetic, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered. When clients are looking for practical solutions, I use Solution-Focused Therapy to help identify strengths, build on existing resources, and develop achievable goals. I also integrate Mindfulness-Based techniques to help clients increase self-awareness, manage stress, remain present, and regulate difficult emotions. For clients who experience intense emotions or relationship challenges, I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, including emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. I also use Motivational Interviewing to support clients who are navigating change, exploring ambivalence, or working toward meaningful personal goals. Throughout the therapeutic process, I provide psychoeducation, teach practical coping skills, encourage self-reflection, and collaborate with clients to develop strategies they can apply in their daily lives. I regularly evaluate progress and adjust interventions as clients' needs evolve, ensuring treatment remains flexible, collaborative, and goal-oriented. My goal is to help clients gain insight, strengthen resilience, build confidence, and develop the tools needed to navigate life's challenges with greater clarity and emotional well-being.
