Because we are relating to those low points in our lives where we were the "underdog" and to see them overcoming their struggles and challenges gives us hope and inspiration! I love working with people who are ready to make a positive change in their lives! There's nothing more exciting than personal transformation through determined, positive change! See you soon! Hola! Hello, I am Dr. Walter Calvo and I have two questions for you. Are you interested in learning why you think and feel the way you do? How about learning why you choose to do the things that you do? I can help you learn coping skills to address common life challenges such as adjusting to change, managing conflict, reducing stress, improving relationships, and coping with grief. Equally important, I can help you process your emotional responses to distressing life circumstances. I also provide psychotherapy to address acute trauma, post-traumatic stress, anxiety and depression. My experience in this area comes from working with active-duty military, veterans, and first responders such as law enforcement, firefighters, emergency medical responders and their families. Gaining insight into why you think and feel the way you do is empowering. It will put you on a path to becoming the best version of yourself. If you are interested in any of that, let's talk!

I greatly value providing you with an authentic and judgement free experience. I find my clients appreciate my direct approach. In other words, I will give it to you straight. We will work towards what you want in life and that often means moving through what one historically avoids. What lies on the other side of the pain is the life you were meant to live. Are there things in your life that you want to change to be happier, feel better about yourself, come to terms with things from the past, or have better relationships with others? If you do, I believe that counseling can help you achieve the kind of life you want to have. I'm a clinical psychologist specializing in treatment of post traumatic stress, anxiety, and depression. I have over 20 years of experience as a therapist and I am trained in multiple types of therapies. I'm originally from Oregon, but I have spent most of my adult life in Texas and a few years overseas in Asia and Europe. In addition to private practice, I have been a military psychologist, Veterans Affairs psychologist, PTSD clinic director, Psycho-Social Rehabilitation clinic director, and adjunct clinical assistant professor at UT Health medical school, as well as participating in major research projects in treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder. I believe that therapy is a science as well as an art, and I have found that my knowledge of clinical research can greatly improve the results of counseling. I have found that counseling can be very effective at helping people make the kinds of changes that they desire in their lives, help them to have a healthier sense of self, more satisfying relationships with others, and a better quality of life. I'm confident that you can meet your goals with a bit of work and the right treatment plan.

Hi, I’m Kumalo—a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), behavioral health leader, and Army veteran with more than 20 years of experience helping individuals overcome challenges and reconnect with their strengths. My approach is structured, grounded, and compassionate. I use evidence-based treatments like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and EMDR to support adults facing stress, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and relationship difficulties. I often work with people who juggle high-pressure careers, caregiving responsibilities, or the complex aftermath of trauma—especially military service members and veterans. You might feel stuck, overwhelmed, or like you’re operating on autopilot. Together, we’ll slow things down, clarify your goals, and develop practical strategies for healing, growth, and renewed purpose. Before joining Grow Therapy, I led behavioral health programs across military and correctional settings—designing systems of care that work. I earned my Master of Social Work from Fayetteville State University and am board-certified in Clinical Social Work. Now, I bring that same commitment and structure to every client I serve. If you’re ready to start showing up for yourself the way you’ve always shown up for others, let’s connect. You don’t have to carry it all alone.

Hello! I bring 17 years of mental health experience along for your sessions. I have been in private practice since January of 2023. I consider myself a generalist and I'm happy to help you with any need or concern that you might have. Some of the areas where I have the most experience are depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and grief and loss. I have spent the majority of my career working in a University setting and have helped many college-age adults make meaningful changes. I have also worked in behavioral health clinics and have experience working with clients that have been legally referred to therapy. I work with almost all age groups however, I typically do not work with persons under the age of 18. If you are a minor, please have your guardian consult with me before scheduling an intake and I will consider your need and my areas of expertise and help you determine our next steps. I am also no longer able to accommodate couples therapy. If you are seeking a couples therapy session I will be happy to assist you with a referral. At this time, I am unable to assist with FMLA paperwork.

After many years of exploring a variety of jobs I finally began to focus on assisting others in this adventure called "life ." As an adult. I began serving through Christian ministry and then realized I was even more fulfilled in working more specifically in the wider field of mental health. After getting both master's and a doctoral degree in mental health, I worked in clinical settings, counseling centers, crisis centers, my own private practice , and university settings. While managing my own counseling center, I also served several years teaching graduate students in the areas of counseling and psychology. My joy comes from helping others regain control of life when cognitions, emotions, and behaviors have caused distress. We do not always understand the "why" of life experiences, however we can gain mastery of our thinking, feeling, and doing and continue to enhance functioning and happiness.

My name is Omar Sandoval and I could have been a statistic. The persistent financial, social, and inter- and intrapersonal adversity I experienced coming from a low socioeconomic status single parent home could have defined me were it not for hope, discipline, education, luck, and my hobbies. Instead, I am a Mexican-American English/Spanish speaking Licensed Professional Counselor practicing since 2017. I was inspired to work in this field due to many hardships growing up. Though difficult to overcome, such significant obstacles ignited my curiosity for understanding the human condition and improving upon it when and where possible, a lifelong pursuit which still guides me personally and professionally. Me llamo Omar Sandoval y soy un consejero acreditado bilingue ejerciendo desde el 2017 de descendencia Mexicana. I've been in the behavioral health field for over 13 years helping people of all ages overcome mental health struggles and substance use issues. I have a passion for mindfulness and compassion in my work and like to incorporate deep breathing and other body-based techniques whenever possible because, frankly, these are things that have worked well for me! I believe in the importance of helping you to understand the power of the mind-body connection in order to improve your relationship with yourself and the world around you. My name is Vincent Egbuchulam, and I am a licensed professional counselor with over five years of experience in the mental health field. I address issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, teen issues, anger and stress management, life transitions, aggression, and ADHD. In addition, I am a retired board-certified Special Education teacher with 15 years of experience. My counseling approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). CBT involves helping clients learn and practice new skills, develop healthier thinking patterns, and adopt more effective coping strategies. I may assign homework to reinforce the skills we work on during sessions, as I believe that applying these techniques in your daily life enhances their effectiveness. SFBT operates on the principle that individuals are competent and capable of finding solutions to improve their lives. In our sessions, you will have the opportunity to describe your challenges, set personal goals, and provide feedback. Occasionally, I may incorporate other techniques, such as role-playing, if they are beneficial for your progress. I am committed to supporting those who seek to enhance their emotional well-being. During our initial visit, we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and outline what you hope to achieve from our sessions. The first session typically lasts about an hour. You can expect a highly professional, objective, nonjudgmental, and confidential experience.

I have an undergraduate degree in Director of Christian education with an emphasis in theology from Concordia University in Austin. Through my experiences in these areas my goal is to connect with people in an authentic way. Having someone to navigate through the troubles can be a game changer and I invite you to come as you are!

Hi there, I'm Brian. Do you miss feeling on track and working towards your goals? Are you not connecting with those you felt close to, such as your best friends, significant other, or family? Do things just feel a bit off and you need some guidance to get back to being "you"? I meet the client in their environment and empower them to help themselves. A holistic approach to therapy is used, pulling from several different therapeutic beliefs. Every client is different and unique, and therefore the approach to healing follows this same path. We'll discuss your goals up front to know which to direction to work towards, and help you discover new things about your healing and coping along the way. Every person's struggle matters. Therapy is not about gauging whether someone is weak or strong, but building on their already existing strengths to help them find healthy ways to help themselves. Therapy is about discovery. Regardless of your reason for reaching out, I'll help you find the right track. You already have the tools to help yourself, let's work together to find out what they are. I look forward to speaking with you. New Client referrals: https://provider.growtherapy.com/book-appointment?id=2829&ref=prov

I witness people in their present predicaments and tell them what I see and feel. Acknowledgement of pain, a counterintuitive process, is the secret sauce of ordering our lives into functional, fun, and life-affirming behaviors. The process of emotional healing takes time, dedication, and practice. Willingness to feel what has been unfelt and to voice what has been unsaid will help you see positive changes in your life.

My name is Graham Maxey. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1983, after graduating from the University of Houston/Clear Lake with a Master of Arts in Behavioral Science. I had noticed for many years that the primary problems people experienced in life were mainly due to living in a space of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that were "too small" to accommodate their well-being or their enjoyment in living. My goal as a counselor has always been to help clients "widen" the spaces they live in and let them have fuller access to all that their lives actually can provide for them.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Texas rather than a city like Dallas?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Texas from Houston to Austin! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Texas.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
