(he/him)
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience working with individuals across all stages of life, including children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. I specialize in helping others with anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem/self-confidence, imposter syndrome, career exploration, and relationship issues. Seeking help is a huge first step, and I do my absolute best to make the entire therapeutic process as smooth and easygoing as possible by embracing a positive, eclectic, and non-judgmental approach to therapy.
A first therapy session is all about getting to know each other and setting the stage for future work. We start with introductions and a discussion of confidentiality and what to expect from therapy. I'll ask you about your background, current concerns, and goals for therapy. It's a time for you to share your story and for me to understand how best to support you. We'll also talk about any immediate issues you're facing and begin to outline a plan for our work together. The goal is to create a comfortable and collaborative environment where you feel heard and understood.
In my eclectic approach to therapy, I draw upon various aspects of cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic approaches to create a custom therapeutic approach that appeals to you and your goals.
I work best with adults who are ready to better understand themselves and make meaningful changes in their lives. Many of my clients are navigating anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, or major life transitions. They may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected, but are open to reflection and willing to engage in the therapeutic process. Together, we focus on building insight, strengthening coping skills, and creating more clarity, stability, and alignment with their values.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I have found Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) great for helping clients accept their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting them. I often integrate ACT by using values-based goal setting to help clients focus on what truly matters to them. This approach aligns well with my current practice and offers practical tools for managing stress and anxiety.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I've worked with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for a while and find it incredibly practical. It's all about identifying and changing negative thought patterns. It's a structured approach that I like to use in a conversational manner to help provide clients with clear, actionable steps to improve their mental and emotional health.
Humanistic
I've found Humanistic Therapy to be a deeply rewarding approach. It emphasizes empathy and unconditional positive regard, helping clients explore their feelings in a supportive environment. This approach aligns well with my commitment to client-centered care and helps foster genuine personal growth.
Interpersonal
I really appreciate Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) and its focus on improving relationships. It's effective in addressing issues like depression by examining interpersonal dynamics and communication patterns. I typically implement IPT by helping clients identify problematic relationships and work on developing healthier ways to interact. This approach offers clients concrete strategies to improve their social functioning and emotional well-being.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I've worked with Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and find it incredibly effective for quick, goal-oriented change. It emphasizes solutions rather than problems, helping clients envision their preferred future. With this approach, I guide clients in identifying their strengths and resources. This approach offers a positive and efficient way to support clients in achieving their goals.

I wasn't sure what to expect. Raul is outstanding. He made me feel very comfortable speaking candidly with him. He listened and then made suggestions for next steps that were very insightful. I am looking forward to my next session.

Raul is the light to help you navigate through a dark and scary room. He's a great listener and offers sound advice. I lost count of the epiphanies he's help me reach by helping me realize my true self and wading through the hard truths. Raul is a genuinely good soul and radiates warmth. I am so very lucky to have met him!
