My name is Pearline Williams, and I have been providing therapeutic services for more than six years. I am passionate about supporting individuals as they navigate life's challenges and work toward healing, growth, and greater emotional well-being. My goal as a therapist is not only to help you address your current concerns, but also to equip you with practical tools and coping strategies that will continue to serve you long after our sessions have ended. I believe therapy is a collaborative process built on trust, respect, and mutual learning. While I bring professional knowledge and clinical experience to our work together, I also recognize the value of your unique experiences, strengths, and insights. In many ways, we are both teachers and students throughout the therapeutic journey. I look forward to partnering with you, honoring your story, and supporting you as you move toward the life you envision for yourself.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, you can expect a welcoming and supportive environment focused on getting to know one another. The initial session serves as an intake appointment, during which we will begin building rapport and discussing your reasons for seeking therapy. I will also share information about my professional background and journey to becoming a licensed therapist, which helps provide insight into my therapeutic approach and fosters a strong therapeutic connection. As an eclectic therapist, I draw from a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities to meet each client's unique needs. During our first session, I will gather information about your experiences, concerns, strengths, and goals for treatment. This collaborative process allows us to develop a personalized approach to support your healing, growth, and overall well-being. My goal is to create a safe space where you feel heard, understood, and supported throughout your therapeutic journey.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What makes me unique as a therapist is my commitment to showing up authentically and drawing upon both my professional training and life experiences. Therapy is my third major career, and each chapter of my professional journey has shaped the therapist I am today. Prior to entering the mental health field, I served as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service for 10 years and later worked as a parole officer for more than eight years. These experiences allowed me to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds, witness the complexities of human behavior, and develop a deep appreciation for resilience, growth, and second chances. I believe that meaningful change occurs when clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is witnessing clients achieve goals they once thought were out of reach and observing the positive transformations that occur throughout the therapeutic process. While I am honored when clients express gratitude for the role I have played in their journey, I view myself as a guide rather than the source of their success. I believe that each client possesses the capacity for healing and growth within themselves, and it is a privilege to help illuminate that path. Celebrating my clients' progress and newfound strength continues to be one of the greatest joys of my work as a therapist.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I welcome and affirm individuals from all walks of life and strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. I work with adults and families from diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, spiritual, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, stress, or personal growth goals, I am committed to meeting you where you are with compassion and respect. My approach is culturally responsive, inclusive, and tailored to each individual's unique experiences, strengths, and needs. I believe that every person deserves the opportunity to heal, grow, and create meaningful change, and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside my clients throughout that journey.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop a healthier relationship with difficult thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. Rather than struggling to eliminate emotional pain, ACT focuses on building psychological flexibility, increasing mindfulness, and helping clients live in alignment with their personal values. This approach is particularly effective for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, life transitions, and chronic stress. Together, we work toward creating a meaningful life while learning practical strategies to navigate emotional challenges with greater resilience and self-compassion.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, evidence-based approach that helps individuals identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. I work collaboratively with clients to explore the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions while developing healthier coping strategies. CBT is effective in treating anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, and a variety of other mental health concerns. My goal is to help clients gain practical tools that promote lasting emotional well-being and personal growth.

EMDR

As an EMDR-trained therapist, I help clients process and heal from traumatic experiences, distressing memories, and adverse life events that continue to impact their present functioning. EMDR is a research-supported treatment that assists the brain in reprocessing unresolved experiences, reducing emotional distress, and fostering adaptive beliefs about oneself and the world. This approach can be beneficial for individuals struggling with trauma, anxiety, grief, attachment wounds, and other experiences that may interfere with daily life and relationships. My approach emphasizes safety, empowerment, and healing at a pace that feels appropriate for each client.

Eclectic

As an eclectic therapist, I recognize that every individual is unique and that no single therapeutic approach works for everyone. I draw from a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR, mindfulness-based interventions, and person-centered techniques to create a treatment plan tailored to each client's specific needs and goals. This flexible approach allows therapy to be personalized, responsive, and focused on helping clients achieve meaningful and sustainable change.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques to help clients strengthen emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness skills. DBT is particularly beneficial for individuals who experience intense emotions, relationship difficulties, impulsive behaviors, self-defeating patterns, or chronic stress. Through a supportive and nonjudgmental therapeutic relationship, clients learn practical skills to manage emotions more effectively, improve communication, and develop healthier ways of coping with life's challenges. My goal is to help clients build a life that feels balanced, purposeful, and worth living.
