Greetings! I’m Dr. Renita Newton, and I'm so glad you’re here. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas with a Ph.D. in Counselor Education, and I’m honored to walk alongside individuals who are navigating life’s challenges and seeking deeper healing, clarity, and peace. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in compassion. I specialize in working with anxiety, stress management, and the everyday concerns that can sometimes feel overwhelming. Whether you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or simply need space to breathe and be heard, I’m here to support you with empathy and care. In addition to traditional talk therapy, I’m a certified mindfulness meditation and sound healing practitioner. I integrate holistic practices when appropriate to help clients feel more grounded, centered, and empowered in their healing journey. Therapy with me is a judgment-free space where your story matters, your feelings are valid, and your growth is honored. If you’re ready to take that next step toward healing, I’m here—ready to meet you exactly where you are.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Clients can expect to leave sessions with me feeling seen, supported, and empowered. Together, we’ll explore what’s weighing on your heart and mind, and work toward building clarity, confidence, and tools you can carry into your daily life. Whether it’s learning how to manage anxiety, create healthier boundaries, or simply make space to just be, my goal is for you to leave each session feeling a little more grounded and connected to yourself. You’ll walk away with practical coping strategies and emotional insight, but most importantly, with a growing sense of self-trust and the reassurance that you don’t have to navigate life alone. As we continue, my hope is that you’ll begin to feel more at home within yourself—more grounded, more hopeful, and more equipped to face whatever life brings with clarity and confidence.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My approach to therapy is person-centered, holistic, and culturally affirming. I believe in meeting each client where they are, with compassion, curiosity, and care. I tailor sessions to fit your unique needs, drawing from evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness and strengths-based approaches, and solution-focused work, while also honoring the mind-body connection through integrative techniques such as meditation and sound healing when appropriate. At the heart of my work is the belief that healing happens in safe, authentic relationships. I prioritize creating a supportive space where you can show up fully—without judgment—and explore your thoughts, emotions, and life experiences at your own pace. Whether you're managing anxiety, adjusting to life changes, or just needing space to reconnect with yourself, therapy with me is collaborative, empowering, and rooted in the belief that you are capable of meaningful growth and lasting transformation.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal clients are adults and young professionals navigating anxiety, stress, grief, burnout, relationship concerns, and major life transitions. I especially enjoy supporting individuals who are working to build confidence, strengthen boundaries, explore identity, and break unhealthy patterns. My clients are often thoughtful, motivated, and ready for a warm, culturally responsive space that blends practical tools, self-discovery, and holistic wellness.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

My approach to person-centered therapy is rooted in creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, valued, and respected. I believe clients are the experts of their own lives, and I work collaboratively with them through empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. My goal is to support clients in increasing self-awareness, building self-acceptance, and identifying their own strengths as they move toward growth and healing.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

My approach to culturally sensitive therapy starts with honoring each client’s unique background, identity, values, and lived experiences. I understand that culture, family, community, and life experiences can shape how a person views themselves, relationships, challenges, and healing. I strive to create a space where clients feel respected, understood, and supported, while remaining open, curious, and mindful of the ways culture and identity may show up in the therapeutic process.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My approach to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focuses on helping clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I work collaboratively with clients to identify unhelpful thought patterns, explore how those patterns may be impacting their emotions and choices, and develop healthier ways of coping. I also support clients in building practical skills they can use outside of therapy to manage stress, improve emotional well-being, and move toward their goals.

Compassion Focused

My approach to compassion-focused therapy centers on helping clients develop greater kindness, understanding, and patience toward themselves. I support clients in recognizing patterns of self-criticism, shame, or guilt and learning how to respond to themselves with more compassion and care. Through this approach, I help clients build emotional safety, strengthen self-acceptance, and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.

Strength-Based

My approach to strengths-based therapy focuses on helping clients recognize and build on the strengths, skills, and resilience they already have. I work with clients to identify what has helped them cope, grow, and overcome challenges, even during difficult seasons. This approach allows clients to feel more empowered, confident, and capable as they move toward healing, personal growth, and meaningful change.
