Hello, my name is Chris Andrews, and I’m a native Atlantan, born and raised in Southwest Atlanta. I attended Georgia State University, where I began developing a passion for helping others navigate life’s challenges. With over 20 years of experience in the behavioral health field, I’ve had the privilege of working with both adolescents and adults, primarily addressing issues related to family conflict, school and work struggles, and behaviors that disrupt home life and relationships. Throughout my career, I’ve seen the powerful impact that support and guidance can have in helping individuals and families break through barriers and create healthier environments. Outside of my professional life, I’m happily married with two children. When I’m not helping others find balance and peace in their lives, I enjoy spending time outdoors, taking in nature, and staying active. I look forward to working together and helping you or your loved ones overcome any challenges you may be facing.

My ideal client is ready to do the work, not because they have all the answers, but because they’re willing to be open, curious, and collaborative in this process. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns, but they also know something has to change. They’re not looking for quick fixes, they’re looking for honest insight, practical tools, and a space where they can better understand themselves. I help clients slow down and sort through the mental and emotional noise that comes with anxiety, depression, and feeling overwhelmed. My approach is grounded in helping you understand not just what you're feeling, but why. Together, we work to identify patterns, unpack the deeper roots of your struggles, and build practical tools for coping. Starting therapy can feel like a big step and it is. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply ready for something to shift, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I’m here to help you make sense of what you’re carrying and support you as you move toward the changes you want to see.

I support adolescents/adults navigating mood disorders, C/PTSD, life transitions, neurodivergence, and existential concerns. Many of my clients come in carrying the weight of relationships that shaped them before they had words for what was happening: attachment trauma, parentification, enmeshment, conditional love, chronic invalidation. They're often called too sensitive, too dramatic, or too much. My clients want a therapist that sees the whole person, not just a diagnostic label. They know what it’s like to feel unseen, talked over, or handed a worksheet when they needed something deeper. A skilled clinician and diagnostician with 19+ years of experience, I integrate trauma-informed, evidence-based therapies within a relational/psychodynamic framework — building treatment around the individual, not a protocol. I offer a reprieve from the particular exhaustion of living authentically in places and systems that are not always affirming.

My experience spans working with clients dealing with stress, anger management, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, trauma, ADHD, and social anxiety. I believe that with the right support and willingness to work towards goals, anyone can change their circumstances and improve their quality of life. My approach to therapy is rooted in several methodologies, including Rogerian, person-centered, existential, and CBT. The person-centered approach is fundamental in my practice, as it allows me to focus on your unique needs and facilitate meaningful progress through empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence. I practice active listening, ensuring you feel heard and understood by rephrasing your statements and asking pertinent questions. In our sessions, I strive to be a role model through congruence, demonstrating authenticity and consistency. I later decided to return to the University of North Florida and received my Master of Science in Health with an emphasis on Health Education/Health Promotion and my Master of Public Health. I worked as a substance abuse counselor for 15 years with both adolescents and adults in Jacksonville, Florida. Many of these clients were dual diagnosed clients (also suffering from mental health issues). In November 2013, I was laid off due to the grant I worked under ending and not being renewed. During this time, I have found that I would like to continue working in the counseling field on a part-time basis while my daughter is in school. It was at this time that I decided to pursue my Master of Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University. Christ led me to this career.

I truly believe people are capable of incredible growth when they feel seen, supported, and challenged in the right ways. My role isn't to tell you how to live your life. It's to help you better understand yourself, make choices that align with your values, and create a life that feels fulfilling. I love celebrating progress, asking thoughtful questions, and helping clients recognize strengths they often don't see in themselves. At the end of the day, what motivates me most is helping people experience more joy, confidence, and connection in their everyday lives.

I am a compassionate and dedicated therapist with a strong background in working with children, adolescents, and families. With experience in clinical practice, school-based settings, and community work, I specialize in supporting individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, behavioral challenges, and emotional regulation difficulties. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable being themselves and sharing their experiences. My approach to therapy is collaborative, client-centered, and grounded in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I believe in meeting clients where they are and helping them build insight into how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. Together, we work to develop practical coping strategies, strengthen emotional awareness, and create meaningful, lasting change. I am especially passionate about helping children and adolescents who may struggle to express their emotions or manage difficult behaviors. I use developmentally appropriate and engaging techniques to help younger clients feel connected to the therapeutic process. I also work closely with parents and caregivers, offering guidance and tools to support their child’s growth both in and outside of sessions. My work is rooted in empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to see others thrive. I understand that seeking therapy can feel overwhelming, and I strive to make the process approachable and empowering. Ultimately, my goal is to help clients build resilience, improve relationships, and feel more confident in navigating life’s challenges.
