Are you a person who has lived through or is living through hard things? Is the use of alcohol or drugs getting in your way or in the way of someone you love? Do you despair about life at times? I am a caring person who listens really well and has more than 30 years' experience using research-proven skills to help you move freely and lightly into the future you want.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I hope you experience our first meeting as a respectful conversation with a person who listens really well and genuinely wants to help you. I'll ask you how I can help you best, what will happen for you that will make you say the process was really worth it. I'll listen to your perspective about the things that contribute to your current challenges, the things that help you function best. I'll seek to identify and highlight your strengths, supports and preferences. It's likely I'll offer you a couple of tips to help you feel better quickly and teach you a couple of skills to practice before we meet again.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am genuinely caring and kind and a GREAT listener. I am well-trained and have 10-30 years' experience in more than 10 research-proven treatment modalities.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy nearly as long as I've been licensed. Why? Hundreds of research studies show that CBT helps people recover quickly from anxiety, depression, traumatic experiences and substance use disorders.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I've been using variations of ACT therapeutic strategies and teaching related coping skills for at least ten years. ACT strategies and skills help people quickly understand they are separate from their symptoms., encourage approaching experiences as temporary versus permanent and with compassion and curiosity versus judgment. These approaches and skills help people experience less internal distress and master their symptoms versus be overwhelmed by them.

Attachment-based

When early parent attachment has been problematic and is impacting current functioning, I've been helping people resolve parent attachment issues for at least 20 years.

Biofeedback

As I've used biofeedback with people I serve since 1988, people are often surprised to initially learn about how their emotions impact their bodies and how changing their physical state can help them feel better emotionally. Especially with trauma survivors, biofeedback can help individuals reconnect with their bodies.

Christian Counseling

A born again believer in Jesus Christ personally, I am comfortable approaching all clients with Christianity's foundational grace and respect, regardless of their faith background or practice. Also, a church member and leader since adolescence, I am also keenly aware of spiritual abuse and trauma realities and their impact on life. I help people unpack and heal from those issues from a stance of real understanding. If a client desires to explore issues from a Biblical perspective, I am exceptionally skilled weaving Biblical faith and recovery practice.
