Hi, my name is Melissa. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensed in FL, GA, TN, TX, WA, UT, NM, IN, RI specializing in helping individuals navigate anxiety, stress, depression, grief/loss and life transitions. I provide individual therapy sessions online. I take a holistic approach to therapy using traditional psychotherapy techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. In 2001 I completed a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work (MSW) from Florida State University. I received my Florida license in Social Work (LCSW) in 2004 and have since added additional licenses in Tennessee and Georgia. I have worked in a variety of settings including hospitals, Hospice programs, schools and as an independent contractor providing tele-mental health counseling services to individuals who are experiencing varying levels of challenges due to chronic medical conditions, life situations and/or mental health concerns. I enjoy helping people work through the challenges of today's world as we take the journey together to get you to where you want to be in your life.
During our first therapy session, clients can expect a welcoming and non judgment atmosphere to discuss their concerns. I will ask questions to gather information about current struggles, and goals for therapy. I will also discuss confidentiality and the therapeutic process. We will collaboratively establish rapport and discuss what to expect in future sessions. The focus is on building trust and understanding the clients needs to create a supportive therapeutic relationship.
I have been helping clients navigate their anxiety, stress and depression symptoms. Together we will work to build strength and confidence in oneself.
I work with clients to identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors contributing to their distress. We focus on understanding how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected and then develop strategies to modify these patterns to achieve specific therapeutic goals. This often involves teaching coping skills, setting achievable tasks, and practicing new behaviors outside of session. Overall, the aim is to promote healthier thinking and behavior patterns to improve overall well-being.
The focus is on exploring clients strengths and resources to identify and amplify solutions to their presenting problems. We work collaboratively to set specific, achievable goals and develop strategies to move towards those goals. The emphasis is on finding practical solutions and implementing small, manageable changes.
