I'm Rebecca Cooper, a Licensed Professional Counselor with 25 years of experience in the field. My work blends solid clinical training with somatic and nervous-system-based approaches, and I have a particular passion for supporting women through deep personal transformation and helping them step more fully into their own leadership and sense of self. That focus shows up in how I approach every session, not just addressing symptoms, but through helping clients build a genuinely different relationship with themselves. My approach is grounded, warm, and real, yes, but also practical and results-focused. I'm not interested in sessions that feel good in the moment but don't lead anywhere; I want clients to leave with real, usable shifts, not just a sense of having talked something through. I believe lasting change happens at the level of the nervous system, not just the surface, and I love walking alongside clients as they discover that for themselves, at whatever pace feels right for them.

First session

You can expect to feel welcomed, heard, and at ease from the moment we begin. My approach is warm, calm, and entirely non-judgmental, this is a space where there is no wrong answer and no version of you that is too much or not enough. In our first session, we will spend time getting to know one another. I want to understand not just what brings you in, but who you are, what you have already tried, and what you are hoping for. I will ask questions, but I will also listen, really listen, in a way that may feel different from what you have experienced before. You will not leave feeling like you just completed an intake form. You will leave feeling like you have been truly seen, with a beginning sense of what our work together might look like and what is possible for you. For my women clients in midlife especially, I want you to know that I understand this season from the inside. I have sat in that same quiet wondering: Why do I keep ending up here? Why isn't everything I've done enough? You are not broken. You are not behind. You are exactly where you need to be to begin something different.

Strengths

What sets my approach apart is that I don't stop at talk therapy. A lot of clients come in already understanding their patterns intellectually, they just can't seem to change them. That's because lasting change doesn't happen through insight alone; it happens in the nervous system. As a Certified Neuro-Identity Evolution® Practitioner, I bring a somatic, nervous-system-informed lens into every session alongside my clinical training, so we're working with the biology underneath a pattern, not just discussing it. In practice, this means sessions often look a little different than traditional talk therapy. We might pause to notice what's happening in the body in real time, or work with a pattern at the level where it's actually stored, rather than only analyzing it from the outside. Clients tell me this is often the missing piece after years of therapy that helped them understand themselves but didn't create real change. I also bring 25 years of experience across a wide range of settings, including work as a school counselor, which has given me a broad, grounded understanding of how people function across different ages and contexts. I hold sessions with warmth and empathy, yes, but more importantly, with a clear sense of how change actually happens, and the training to help clients get there faster than insight alone ever could.

Ideal clients

I love working with women who find themselves at a crossroads. Maybe the kids have grown and left the house, or a marriage has ended, or a career no longer fits the way it used to; life has simply shifted in a way that leaves you asking, who am I now? You may have spent years being needed by everyone else, and now you're standing in a version of your life that looks different than you expected, unsure of what comes next. I also love working with young adults and teens navigating family issues or working through past trauma. Whether it's conflict at home, a difficult family dynamic, or the lingering effects of something painful that happened earlier in life, I bring the same nervous-system-informed approach to help younger clients understand and move through what they're carrying, not just talk about it. Wherever you are in your own crossroads, I don't just want to help you understand the change you're facing, I want to help you actually move through it, so you come out the other side feeling like yourself again, maybe for the first time in a while."

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use this approach to help you notice the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and the choices you make day to day. A lot of the patterns that keep us stuck aren't random, they come from beliefs we've been carrying, often without realizing it. Together, we'll identify those patterns and practice new, more helpful ways of thinking and responding, so change doesn't just happen in our sessions, it shows up in your everyday life.

Somatic

This is where a lot of my training goes deeper than traditional talk therapy. Instead of only talking about what's going on, we also pay attention to what's happening in your body ; your breath, your posture, the physical sensations that come up as we talk. That's because real, lasting change doesn't happen through thinking alone; it happens when your nervous system learns something new too. This approach helps make change feel less like an idea and more like something you actually experience. I help clients learn how to feel a sense of safety being in their bodies.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Rather than spending a lot of time dissecting every detail of a problem, this approach focuses on where you want to go and what's already working, even in small ways. We'll spend time getting clear on what progress would actually look like for you, then build practical steps to get there. It's a great fit if you're looking for sessions that stay focused and move you forward, rather than circling the same territory.
