Hello I am Maurice a Licensed Professional Counselor I chose to become a therapist after serving over 30 years as a public servant. I also take pride in being a U.S Army veteran. I bring to each session a broad spectrum of life experiences in public, government & military settings. I feel that my experiences have provided me with a unique insight into the challenges that clients may face and have shaped my empathetic spirit and relatable perspective to treatment. I earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health from Governors State University.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, I’ll begin by introducing myself and sharing a bit about how I approach therapy. I’ll also take a moment to recognize the effort it took for you to book this appointment—starting therapy is a meaningful step, and it’s important to reflect on what brought you here. We’ll spend time talking through some parts of your psychosocial history, such as past experiences, current challenges, and support systems. From there, we’ll begin identifying your goals so we can shape a plan that feels supportive, intentional, and tailored to your needs. My goal is to create a space that feels safe, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have experience working with individuals, couples, families, adolescents, and adults, especially those who want to understand and decide what to do next in their situation. My approach is relational in which the client is the expert, and I bring my knowledge, experience, and education to the relationship. We collaborate and identify patterns, habits and trauma that stop clients progress, resolve the issues if possible, and decide what to do to move forward including those dealing with life adjustment, depression, anxiety, career transition, relationship, trauma and other psychological and life issues.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I have experience working with teens, adults, couples, and families. I have experience in supporting: clients in the following areas; anxiety, depression, self-esteem, grief or life stressors. trauma, poor communication, negative anger expression, relationship conflict, development of coping skills. I use collaborative and strength-based approaches rooted in psychodynamics and cognitive-behavioral theories. I am here to offer you and/or your family professional counseling to assist you with addressing your concerns and achieving your identified goals.
