My primary tool for helping clients with trauma is ImTT or Image Transformation Therapy. ImTT uses imagery and the breath to release triggers that are related to past trauma. When triggers are released you are able to make choices based on what's happening now not what you body has decided is a threat from the past. Mindfulness, somatic practices and other self-care tools are valuable to support the work. They help heal and reset the nervous system. This helps a person choose to be present in the moment and does so in a safe and gentle way. The ability to calm an activated nervous system is one of the most valuable skills for good mental health.
