Thank you so much for taking the time to read this bio. I want to first congratulate in you on taking a step of putting yourself first. Taking that first step could have many mixed feelings of excitement, fear and uncertainty. I am here to be a support system for your self growth and development.
Many things in life can occur which can hinder our growth. Such events can be disheartening (e.g. divorce, death of a loved one, stress in school or work, etc.) or even events that are normally viewed as positive (e.g. recently getting married, moving in together, getting a new job or promotion, children, etc). Events of any sort creates change which many individuals, couples and families experience differently.
My role in these changes is to be a safe place to openly discuss these events and changes and to provide the support essential for growth. The approach I use for treatment with patients are integrative. You and I will develop an effective approach together to determine what would work best based on my clinical judgement and you knowing yourself.
I an seasoned, compassionate, active, and direct therapist with 20+ years of experience. I use a variety of evidence-based approaches tailored to your unique story to help you reach your personal and professional potential. My approach, although collaborative and client-centered, tends to be direct and relies heavily on CBT methods as well as other strategies.
I believe that connection is key and that the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important aspects of successful treatment. I believe relationships and connections are key factors that guide us mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Getting to know you as an individual and developing a sound working relationship with mutual dignity and respect are key values that motivate me in my therapy practice. My goal as your therapist is to help you work toward living a happier, more fulfilling life.
My sessions can be very structured (usually with CBT, assignments, readings, and homework) or I can simply lend an empathetic ear. Each session and client are unique and I tailor my approach as needed.
Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and EMDR Certified. I understand that individuals are continually adapting to their surroundings and doing their best to manage amongst systemic, environmental, and interpersonal stressors. In my therapy sessions, I offer a space for individuals to both process their experiences and explore strategies for managing stressors in a healthy way. I have extensive experience over the past 15 years supporting individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma.
I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 19 years of experience in the area of Physical, Emotional and Sexual Trauma. I have provided services to military, law enforcement and crime victims as well as those who have less violent experiences that cause problems with their family members and spouses. I feel that it is essential for people to have a safe, respectful and healthy relationship with their loved ones in order to fully appreciate and enjoy life to the fullest.
We know that initiating counseling services for your child or yourself can be very challenging. However, please know that you are making a positive step towards a healthy change in your life. During the counseling process, together we will identify your strengths and use those strengths to help propel you in making the necessary changes you would like to make in your life.
