Are you struggling with something that happened? Maybe you’re having a hard time after a car accident, medical procedure, assault, natural disaster, or witnessing something shocking. Or maybe what happened doesn’t seem “big” enough to call trauma, but you know it changed something in you. Some experiences are what we call “big T” traumas. But there are also “little t” traumas. Being neglected or made to feel invisible, being made fun of, getting yelled at, or losing a pet can leave a lasting mark too. An experience doesn’t have to seem “big” to everyone else. What matters is how it affected you. I’m a trauma therapist who uses EMDR and other therapies to help people work through overwhelming experiences and feel more like themselves again. I also work with healthcare workers who have experienced disturbing or traumatic situations in the course of their jobs. You may be carrying something you saw, heard, or had to do that is difficult to talk about with people who haven’t been there. I have extensive experience working with adolescents and teenagers as well. This is a time of life when everything can feel big, and having a place where you don’t have to minimize what you’re feeling can make a real difference. Therapy with me is active and collaborative. We’ll work together to understand what is keeping you stuck and find ways to help you. If you’re motivated and short on time, I can also give you practical tools and knowledge you can use between sessions to support yourself through a difficult space. I’m probably a good fit if you’re ready to work on the impact of something overwhelming and want a therapist who will take your experience seriously, even if other people might not understand why it affected you so deeply.

Hello, I'm Karen and I am so happy that you have made this first step of seeking what might help whatever situation you are in. It's a big step, and not taken lightly. Therapy effectiveness is known to work best when it feels like the right fit for you, and you are in a place in your life to move forward with it. I have been doing this for a minute, and know how much change can come about walking alongside you on this journey. I have worked in outpatient settings, managed counseling programs, private practice, schools, drug treatment, crisis response, elder care, and at-risk settings. While I have skill sets in those areas, I feel that working with anxiety, trauma, grief, ADHD , and adjustments to life's circumstances are particularly strong attributes for me.

Since then, I've worked with adults of all ages, many of whom are at a crossroads in some area of their life. I am a psychodynamically oriented therapist who integrates attachment-based, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), mindfulness-based approaches, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to support clients in understanding themselves more deeply and creating meaningful change. I am, also, always working on and open to learning new therapies to best help my clients! My work is grounded in the belief that many emotional struggles—such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties—are connected to early relational experiences and the patterns we develop to cope, protect ourselves, and connect with others. In therapy, I help clients explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion, while also building practical tools to manage distress in the present. I offer a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where you can slow down, reflect, and make sense of your emotional world. I also pay close attention to what unfolds in the therapeutic relationship, as it can provide important insight and opportunities for healing and growth. Depending on your needs, our work may include exploring past experiences, identifying emotional and relational patterns, strengthening awareness of thoughts and feelings, and learning skills to support regulation and coping. My goal is to help you develop greater clarity, emotional balance, and more secure and fulfilling relationships—with yourself and others. Therapy with me is a space for both insight and change. Together, we work toward helping you feel more grounded, connected, and able to move through life with greater confidence and ease.

While I specialize in OCD, I am taking on clients with life transitions, self esteem, generalized anxiety issues and relationship issues now. Please message me with any questions. Sometimes, we feel stuck in our lives. Whether you are going though a divorce, new career, a transition to or from college, or a death. These transitions can leave us feeling unable to cope with the uncertainty and regulate our own emotions. I am here to listen with an open ear, and heart, without judgement, but with compassion and support. Coming to therapy can be an intimidating first step that can lead to life changing results. I will be your sounding board. We will work together to identify and navigate unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors that get in the way of you living a life that represents your long term values. Therapy is a place to provide tools that help you develop coping skills, regulate emotions, and decrease overall destress in a safe space. Whether you are in therapy for 2 years or 2 months, I want you to be well equipped to weather any life challenge with a sense of ease and confidence. I believe in being transparent with my clients and providing in the moment realistic feedback. I want you to feel as comfortable as possible and leave each therapy session feeling like you gained insight or a skill you didn't have previously. Ultimately, my goal, is that you feel empowered, and utilize the skills you learn in therapy throughout your life.

Through a supportive and trusting therapeutic relationship, we will work together to promote insight into your current struggles, process your thoughts and emotions, and help you heal from past experiences. Hi! I’m a licensed psychotherapist (LPCC) based in Berkeley CA and serving clients statewide via Telehealth. I have over 20 years of experience working and volunteering in community mental health, and have been practicing as a psychotherapist since January 2018. I received my MA in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in 2019, and my BA in Psychology from Reed College in 2010. I have been licensed since February 2023. I am trained as an integrative psychotherapist and work relationally and holistically. I believe all facets of life are (naturally) interrelated--relational, emotional, physical/physiological, cognitive, cultural, societal/political, spiritual, existential... I incorporate orientations, frameworks and insights from across the field: attachment-based (psychodynamic), somatic (Polyvagal, Somatic Experiencing, neuroscience), humanistic, mindfulness, gestalt, self-psychology, ACT, DBT, CBT, systems, existential, holistic/spiritual perspectives and wisdom like Buddhism, narrative, human needs perspectives like self-determination theory, communication frameworks like NVC and insights from the Gottmans, and paradigms and perspectives on social justice like feminism, analysis of power and privilege, intersectionality, intergenerational and societal trauma, psychological/emotional/verbal abuse, narcissism/scapegoating/othering etc. I am guided by a trauma-informed approach that aims to foster empowering client-centered, collaborative, transparent and intersubjective relational conditions that I believe support people’s natural ability to experience safety, connection, and authentic actualization. My work is informed by a lifetime of deep inquiry into human needs and the complex ways familial, social, cultural, economic and biological contexts inform how they may be nurtured, supported, neglected or actively or insidiously contravened. I believe that human attachments and early life experiences, as well as structural power dynamics in social/societal systems, are typically foundationally informative to the bridge or gap between trauma/suffering and thriving in safety and connection. I think humanness and understanding of / respect for these facts, alone, can be a healing provision of therapy relationship.

Are you tired of being the emotional project manager in your relationships? Do you stay calm on the outside while mentally writing resignation letters from your relationships? **Could you BE any more overwhelmed? (Chandler’s voice)** Well, hello—I’m really glad you’re here. If you’re someone who looks capable on the outside but feels stretched thin, overwhelmed, or quietly exhausted on the inside, you’re in the right place. I’m Katrina, a Christian therapist who works with high-achieving individuals navigating relationship shifts, workplace stress, and the pressure of holding it all together. My work blends evidence-based approaches like Compassion-Focused Therapy and CBT with faith-centered values  and scripture references, creating a space where you don’t have to choose between emotional healing and your beliefs. And yes, I believe therapy can be meaningful without feeling painfully serious all the time. If you appreciate a well-timed *Friends*, *The Office*, *Parks and Recreation*, or *Brooklyn Nine-Nine* reference, we’ll probably get along just fine. Sometimes humor helps us feel human, breathe a little deeper, and make space for the harder conversations. Therapy with me isn’t about fixing you. It’s about helping you slow down, untangle the mental noise, and reconnect with who you are beneath all the expectations and responsibilities. This is a place where you can stop performing, be honest, laugh when you need to, and feel supported as you move toward clarity, peace, and purpose. If you’re looking for a therapist who understands both your ambition and your faith—and who won’t mind the occasional pop-culture reference—I’d love to walk alongside you. Whether you’re working to improve a relationship, make a difficult decision, break unhealthy patterns, or face a personal challenge, you deserve support — and change is possible. I help clients identify patterns in their struggles and successes, so they can understand themselves more fully and move forward with greater clarity and strength. My therapeutic approach draws from evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, attachment theory, psychodynamic principles, and strength-based practices. Together, we’ll focus on building self-compassion while working through the areas that feel stuck or painful. In session, I am an active and engaged therapist. I bring warmth and compassion, and I’m also direct when needed — offering honest feedback in the spirit of growth and support. We will co-create a space where you feel safe, respected, and free of judgment — a space to explore, reflect, and begin to ease emotional pain. I have a deep passion for supporting adolescents and adults through life's most difficult challenges. I work with a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and relational difficulties, and I meet clients with warmth, curiosity, and a genuine commitment to their healing. My path to this work is personal. My own journey through struggle, recovery, and transformation has profoundly shaped the therapist I am today. I bring lived understanding of what it means to face hard things and do the inner work, and that experience informs the depth of compassion and authenticity I bring to every client I have the privilege of working with. I am also a certified yoga teacher with training in trauma-informed yoga, and I weave somatic awareness into my clinical work, honoring the deep connection between mind, body, and healing. Above all, I believe that people are capable of profound growth and change. I believe everyone deserves a space where they feel safe enough to be fully themselves, and I am deeply committed to creating that space for every person I work with. I help high-functioning adults reconnect with themselves and learn to trust their own judgment again. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable adults who have spent years taking care of everyone else while quietly struggling themselves. They often appear successful on the outside but privately feel anxious, emotionally exhausted, overwhelmed, or disconnected from who they used to be. You may be recovering from betrayal, navigating a difficult relationship or divorce, struggling with perfectionism or people-pleasing, healing from trauma, or facing a major life transition. Somewhere along the way, you may have begun second-guessing yourself, losing confidence in your instincts, or wondering why life feels so much harder than it looks from the outside. My approach is warm, practical, and collaborative. Together, we'll make sense of the patterns keeping you stuck, calm your nervous system, reduce shame, strengthen healthy boundaries, and build the confidence to make choices that align with your values instead of fear or self-doubt. Therapy should leave you feeling understood, supported, and equipped with practical tools that make everyday life feel lighter.
