Hello! Thanks for checking out my profile! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based out of Tennessee, serving clients virtually in Tennessee and Georgia. I am a Christian, strengths-based, attachment-oriented therapist who practices EMDR and MB-CBT. I have my Master's of Social Worker from the University of Georgia and I have over a decade of experience providing compassionate, evidenced-based care. I primarily serve adult women, many of whom are Christian, who are dealing with anxiety, life-transition, faith issues, or burn-out. Many of my clients report feeling more hope, confidence, and empowerment after several sessions. By the end of therapy, many of my clients express an increased overall sense of well-being.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I believe that trust is the most important ingredient in a successful therapeutic relationship. In our first session, my primary goal is for us to get to know each other better, to make sure it feels safe and like a good fit. I also review your intake paperwork with you, including your client history form. Our session will be like a free flowing conversation, where you can ask questions, share concerns, and expand on why you are coming to therapy and what is most important to you. Lastly, we will get specific about what you hope to get out of therapy, what life might look like when you are feeling better, and how to get there.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a provider, I think what my clients appreciate most is that they feel safe with me. Many clients express that they can tell me things that they have not told other people. I think that reflects my ability to prove my trustworthiness and safety in session. I strive to show up as my authentic self and to view my clients non-judgmentally, with unconditional positive regard. Many of my clients begin to feel better after several sessions.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I am certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) through EMDRIA, and I have been practicing EMDR therapy for several years. When using EMDR with clients, first, I help my clients increase confidence to manage difficult emotions by building coping skills and resources. Then, when a client feels ready, we explore the hard things that have happened and any disempowering beliefs internalized from those experiences. Next, we use bilateral stimulation (via moving eyes back and forth) to reprocess troubling memories, desensitizing painful emotions, and increasing adaptive beliefs. Many of my clients say they feel more confident, peaceful, and empowered after EMDR therapy. I have successfully used EMDR to treat Anxiety, Depression, OCD, PTSD, and Adjustment Disorders.

Christian Counseling

I have helped many Christian clients over the years who are experiencing difficulty with their faith. I support Christian clients who are in distress either because they are questioning parts of their faith or are having difficulty reconciling their faith with trauma or other aspects of their lives. I start by exploring your beliefs, how they developed, and how they've impacted you and your understanding of your faith. Additionally, I provide education that questioning one's faith is a normal and healthy part of spiritual development. Then, once we have unpacked and assessed where your beliefs come from, I support you in developing an understanding of your faith that feels more authentic and adaptive. In my experience, this can be a very scary process for people because they feel they may be losing their faith. But, it is also my experience that clients who engage in a process of assessing their beliefs often walk away with a more secure relationship with God, finding more peace in their faith.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In utilizing Mindfulness-Based CBT, first, we explore the connection between triggers, thoughts, feelings, actions and consequences in one's life. We also increase mindful awareness by practicing mindfulness skills. With this foundation, I help clients to change their relationship with their thoughts, increase self compassion and move through emotional pain. Clients often report reduced emotional distress after engaging in MB-CBT.
