Hi! I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Tennessee. I received my Masters from Lipscomb University and have been practicing for 8 years. My goal is to provide a safe space to build awareness, to identify communication barriers and to explore your thoughts and emotions as you transition to healthier quality of life. I desire to alleviate stigmas related to seeking professional help. I am passionate about helping clients feel genuinely understood without judgement. I work with adult individuals and couples on various issues including anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, LGBTQIA+ challenges, women's issues, and life transitions. Jack Canfield said it best, "All the good stuff is outside our comfort zone.”

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

We will start our first session with brief introductions and immediately began exploring your current and reoccurring challenges. We will establish SMART goals and a custom plan to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Past clients have described me as genuine, compassionate and an active listener who is kind and honest. One of my key strengths is the ability to help people feel safe, comfortable, and understood. This is especially helpful in couples counseling with one partner not being completely sold on therapy. Whether we are working together to improve your relationship or strengthen and empower YOU, I hope to help you achieve your goals, strengthen your connections, and grow as a person.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with couples and adult individuals. I encourage effective communication, self-awareness and positive outlooks. My clients are eager to understand, ready for changed outcomes and therefore seeking the tools to meet their goals.

My treatment methods

Couples Counseling

In the past five years, I've helped over 150 couples navigate the ebb and flow of their relationship using a couple's assessment (optional) to assist in partner understanding and goal setting. We focus on (but not limited to) communication, conflict resolution, partner styles/habits, finances, future planning, intimacy, expectations and desires. My goal is help couples rediscovery their friendship, improve communication and successfully navigate life's transitions.

Gottman method

I’ve been using Gottman Method in my practice for the past five years. When working with couples we focus on intimacy, friendship and managing conflict. The goal is to improve the relationship through increased positive interactions and creating shared meaning for their future. I challenge you to rediscover why you fell in love and genuinely seek to understand each other. My goal is to provide a safe space to explore vulnerabilities and help map out your future.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I’ve been using EFT in my practice for the past five years. When working with couples we focus on enhancing emotional awareness, identifying negative interaction patterns and restructuring emotional experiences. I assess and provide psychoeducation on the different attachment styles to assess how it shows up in your daily life and how it influences your relational thoughts and functioning in personal/professional settings. The goal is understanding and processing emotions in order to improve communication, create healthier connections and help understand your needs and relational strengths.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I’ve been using CBT in my practice for the past 8 years. We focus on identifying and challenging reoccurring negative thought patterns and behaviors, developing effective coping skills and gaining a better understanding of emotional impact. CBT will help you recognize how your thoughts, feelings and behaviors influence each other and your daily functioning. The goal is to improve mental health conditions such as stress, anxiety, depression and insomnia.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I’ve been using SFBT in my practice for the past 8 years. We focus on empowerment by emphasizing strengths, resources and goal setting rather than dwell on past challenges or symptoms. SFBT encourages clients to explore exceptions to their problem and identify what is already working well. My goal is help you reframe and explore the positive perspective to life's transitions.
