First sessions are usually the easiest - we get to know each other, you tell me what has been going on and we set a plan on how to move forward. This is also the moment where you can ask me ANY questions you might have related to the process of psychotherapy. Sometimes getting a picture of how things work can ease the mind.
Almost a decade ago, tight after grad school, I dove in working with the most severe mental health cases in an inpatient setting. From there, through out the years I've also worked as a psychotherapist for executive professionals, and have also worked as a psychotherapists supervisor. One word that would describe me is Ubuntu - "I am what I am because of who we all are".
As human beings, we each carry our own burdens - some may feel like a small hill, while others resemble the weight of Everest. Regardless of the size, our sessions are intended to be a space where you can set that weight down, even briefly, to rest and restore. My approach is eclectic, rooted in the understanding that one size does not fit all, and is guided by directness paired with genuine empathy. If this resonates with what you are seeking, I would be glad to connect with you.
One size does not fit all when it comes to mental health. So we will implement multiple approaches based on the problems and needs.
