Hi! I'm Mary and I realllly like my job. I am accepting clients both in person and virtually. I use a combination of Adlerian theory, Person-Centered, and ACT. I have training in complex trauma/PTSD, OCD, and anxiety. I am LGBTQ+ affirming. When not working, I am either going on walks with my dog, reading, playing Stardew Valley, or spending time with friends and family.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I'll collaborate with you and periodically check in. Sessions may look different depending on what you find to be helpful. I try to find the right balance between understanding "Why?" but also "Okay, now what do I do about it?".

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am a pretty laid back person in general and that's how I am in session too. I use humor and will laugh with you, but I can also be direct and will challenge your thinking. I'm also pretty open and try to demystify the therapy experience. I won't just assign you homework, but I will explain why I think a specific skill might be helpful.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I specialize in working with individuals who feel stuck by their thoughts and anxiety. This may look like people pleasing, running anxious, or knowing your problem, but not knowing how to fix it. Many of my client's have been labeled as too self aware, intellectualizes, or over thinkers. No one wants to be trapped by their own mind. It can lead to us avoiding, withdrawing from others, or just missing out on life.

My treatment methods

Adlerian

Adlerian theory is how I see the world. I think that we all want to feel good about ourselves and feel like we belong. From looking at our past, we can connect patterns to help inform our present and influence our future growth.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person-Centered is so important to the therapy process. It's all about the human connection between you and your therapist. We need to feel safe and connected in the therapy room to have the best opportunity for growth.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I love ACT. I think it really helps bridge the gap between talking and doing. It's centered on values and making choices that align with who you are and what you want out of life.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

ERP is the gold standard for OCD treatment. There's so many things that can make OCD worse. When using ERP, I still pull from ACT and go at your pace, checking in as we go.
