I am a 36-year-old Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) originally from Los Angeles. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in nursing while serving in the United States Air Force, where I gained valuable experience supporting individuals through medical and personal challenges. I have been practicing therapy since 2018 and am passionate about helping adults navigate life stressors, emotional difficulties, and personal growth. My approach is compassionate, client-centered, and supportive, and I strive to create a safe space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout their healing process.
Welcome to my profile. I hope it will help you find a therapist who is a good fit for you.
My name is Jon. I have 28 years of experience in the mental health field. I earned my MA in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Holistic Studies in 2002 and have been a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2009.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a dishwasher, forklift driver, small business manager, and completed an internship with the United Nations. I have lived and worked overseas and across the United States, collaborating with people from many different backgrounds. Like many, I have faced cancer and other significant life challenges.
I went back to college later in life because I wanted to help young people and their families build better futures. I chose a holistic approach because I believe in working with the whole person — mind, body, feelings, relationships, history, and spirit.
I spent 15 years supporting youth experiencing significant emotional and behavioral challenges and their families. I also worked with adults in community settings. For the last 13 years, my primary work has been with incarcerated adults. These experiences have taught me about shame, redemption, resilience, and dignity. I have witnessed people at their lowest points and seen their remarkable capacity to change, heal, and rebuild.
All of this has convinced me that people are always more than the labels they carry or the worst things they have experienced. I believe every person is worthy of being heard and treated with dignity and respect — and that change, growth, and transformation are possible for everyone.
It's time for a change. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, frustrated, or held back by self-doubt, perfectionism, ADHD-related challenges, or imposter syndrome, know that you do not have to keep living this way. Change is possible, and you don't have to figure it out on your own. The life you want is often closer than it feels, and taking the first step can make all the difference.
I help leaders, athletes, and performers develop greater self-confidence, resilience, and self-awareness so they can perform at their best. Whether your goals involve improving your career, strengthening relationships, enhancing performance, becoming a more effective leader, or simply feeling more fulfilled in everyday life, I am passionate about helping people overcome the obstacles that stand in their way.
My approach combines more than 20 years of experience in military mental health with a specialization in sport and performance psychology. This unique background allows me to understand challenges from multiple perspectives and tailor strategies to your specific needs. I recognize that success is not just about working hard; it is about understanding yourself, leveraging your strengths, and developing the skills necessary to thrive under pressure.
Together, we will identify what is holding you back, build on what is already working, and create a practical plan to help you move forward with confidence. My goal is to provide a supportive, challenging, and results-oriented environment where you can develop the tools needed to create meaningful and lasting change.
You have already taken an important step by exploring your options. The next step is deciding that your growth, well-being, and future are worth investing in. I invite you to take that step today by scheduling an appointment and beginning to build the life you want to live.
