Hello, I am Afsheen Izadi, but I go by Bruce. I have been working as a Marriage and Family Therapist since 2013 and have worked with many different populations. Growing up, I observed people putting more emphasis on their physical wellbeing and ignoring their psychological and emotional wellbeing. I see that they are interconnected and we were only treating a part of the problem. I did some introspection and decided that I didn't want to simply "survive," but live a good life. Then I realized I don't just want this for myself--I want to make this possible for others.

Hi there and great job on taking that first step in considering if therapy is right for you. I invite you to come with me on a journey of your own choosing where we will walk together in darkness to find the light you’ve been seeking. Whether it’s life’s little annoying stressors or more complex issues, as a trauma survivor myself, I know firsthand what this is like and wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Whether you choose me or another therapist, make the choice to just give it a try. Sometimes all you need is another person to hold the light while you do the work you need to heal.

I have a specialization working with couples, families and individuals; as well as substance abuse/chemical dependency and addiction treatment (porn, sex & gambling). In many cases the depressed and anxious client is self medicating in some way to alter underlying feelings of depression, anxiety and intimacy/attachment issues. I use Somatic Experiencing, a very effective treatment for trauma/PTSD symptoms, helping the body and mind regulate itself. Clients in relationships with loved ones addicted or abusing substances can benefit from therapy to learn how to take care of themselves so as to limit the toxicity of the proximity I utilize CBT, psychodynamic, solution focused and the John Gottman strategies. Clients learn that thoughts create feelings, mood then affect. With couples and families my job is to provide a safe place where effective communication can develop, listening and most importantly the ability to respond to each other rather than react/ conflict resolution. I treat compulsive sexual behaviors, chemical dependency, anger management & PTSD. I will assess, diagnose & write a letter for patients wanting to travel with their pet, allowing them to live without harassment from landlords and airlines etc.

Are your emotions working against you; controlling you, keeping you from experiencing the relationships and the life that you want for yourself? Are you trapped inside your mental health diagnosis? My approach to therapy is individualized to you, as I utilize interventions from multiple theoretical orientations to fit your desired outcomes. I provide an emotionally safe space for sharing your truth. Let me sit beside you as you journey to yourself. I really love being a therapist, and it’s so rewarding to support people on their journeys of self-discovery. In many ways, I get to give back the same kind of support that therapy gave me. Over time, I’ve come to see that things like anxiety, depression, chronic illness, or struggles in relationships and careers often show up when something’s off in the mind-body-spirit connection. I’ve been through my own path of growth and transformation, and along the way, I picked up some powerful tools that I truly believe can help you find more healing, love, peace, and purpose in your life. In my work, I lean into attachment theory and also explore the deeper, more spiritual aspects of what it means to be human.

Life doesn't have to feel this heavy. Anxiety, guilt, worry, sadness, anger - if any of these have been showing up uninvited, you're not alone. And you don't have to keep navigating them on your own. Change is genuinely possible, and I'd love to help you find your way there. I created a practice built around one thing: helping people like you build a life that feels more connected, more peaceful, and more like yours. Therapy with me is a collaborative, judgment-free space where we slow down, get curious about what's driving your patterns, and work toward something better together.

If you are a client of Kaiser Permanente, it is necessary to obtain a referral from Kaiser before proceeding. Once you have received the referral, Kaiser will provide you with a link to schedule a session with me. I specialize in helping individuals navigate grief, anxiety, depression, anger, relationship challenges, and behavioral concerns. Many people live with anxiety without realizing how deeply it affects their relationships, decision-making, and overall quality of life. If you find yourself feeling constantly on edge, overwhelmed, or emotionally exhausted, you’re not alone—and support can make a meaningful difference. Depression is not always obvious or dramatic; it often shows up as fatigue, irritability, disconnection, or a loss of motivation. It is one of the most common and misunderstood struggles people face today, yet it is also highly treatable. With the right support, individuals can regain clarity, emotional balance, and a stronger sense of control over their lives.

Marriage & Family Therapist | Couples Counseling | Postpartum & First-Time Parent Support The transition into parenthood can place unexpected strain on even strong relationships. Many couples experience increased conflict, emotional distance, or difficulty communicating after the birth of a child. First-time parents may also struggle with anxiety, overwhelm, identity shifts, and symptoms of postpartum depression or anxiety that feel isolating or hard to name. I specialize in working with couples and first-time parents navigating relationship stress and postpartum mental health challenges. I support clients through this transition by helping them strengthen communication, rebuild emotional safety, and develop practical tools that support both individual well-being and long-term relationship health. Clients often come to therapy feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward together. In our work, we slow things down, identify unhelpful patterns, and build skills for emotional regulation, clearer communication, and deeper connection — both individually and as a couple.

My name means “Light,” and my goal is to help you rediscover yours. As a BIPOC therapist, I bring a culturally sensitive, holistic approach to healing. Together, we’ll shed light on your challenges and explore compassionate, practical solutions to help you move forward. My work is rooted in the transformative power of mindfulness, spirituality, and self-awareness. I integrate psychoanalysis, faith-based counseling, and holistic healing to create a space where you can reconnect with your authentic self and cultivate resilience. I specialize in supporting adults facing anxiety, trauma, depression, and men’s issues. My approach blends psychotherapy with spiritual exploration and self-discovery — helping you realign with your purpose and inner peace. I believe every person holds untapped potential and innate wisdom. My role is to hold a nonjudgmental space where you can feel seen, supported, and understood. Through our work together, we’ll turn over the stones of your experience to reveal clarity, healing, and a renewed sense of direction. I’ve personally walked through profound loss and transformation — including a near-death experience and the passing of my beloved mother to cancer. These experiences deepened my faith in the human spirit and in our collective ability to heal and shine again. Wherever you are on your journey, I’m here to help you grow and remember who you truly are — a light meant to shine.
