Welcome - I'm so glad you're here! Getting started with care is a big step, and I want to recognize the courage it takes to be here. Congratulations on taking your first step into your therapeutic journey by being open to self-discovery and transformation. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and my focus is experiential approach where individuals evoke and process their feelings in the here and now.
Our first meeting will involve an evaluation of your needs, which often includes reasons for seeking therapy. Initial sessions might be challenging for you because it may bring out many unpleasant memories and/or emotions. However, you can expect a warm, authentic and compassionate atmosphere where you can feel supported and understood. Together, we will talk about how you deal with your emotions, your relationships, struggles you have, and places you don’t feel so powerful. I will help you deal with your emotions differently and help you learn about your relationships in ways that make you stronger. You’ll be able to deal with this and you’ll be able to change. By the end of the evaluation period, I will be able to offer you some initial impressions of how our work together would be helpful and some of the difficulties that we would address if you were to decide to continue with therapy. You can evaluate this information along with your own impressions and whether you feel comfortable working with me.
Strengths that I posses are empathy, warmth, care, encouragement, authenticity, and longing. My ability to tune and mirror someone's emotions allows me to hold space for them and help to create their own self compassion. In addition, asking questions in unique ways that promote guidance and self discovery helps me cultivate collaboration in problem solving and changes that people desire for their transformation. I’m here to gently guide you through processing your trauma at a pace that feels safe and manageable. Together, we’ll work to soothe your inner child, transform painful emotions into self-compassion, and create new perspectives that support your healing and growth.
If you are carrying the weight of past trauma—whether from childhood abuse, sexual assault, or culturally specific experiences—you might feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from yourself. You want relief from the pain and the constant replay of difficult memories. You hope to find safety within your own mind and heart, to heal without feeling retraumatized, and to build a life where shame and guilt no longer define you. You deserve to feel empowered to rewrite your story with compassion and strength.
We will talk about how you deal with your emotions and your relationships, struggles you have, and places you don’t feel so powerful, and I will help you deal with your emotions differently and help you learn about your relationships in ways that make you stronger. You'll be able to reduce fear of being overwhelmed emotionally to experience wholeness and balance, you’ll be able to learn about the blocks to attachment and restructure the bond with self and others.
We will be working on identifying automatic thoughts, underline assumptions and core beliefs to help you change the unhelpful patterns of behaviors. We will be reframing these thoughts and beliefs to change feelings and behaviors.

The treatment plan that Teona has set up for me has been very helpful and has been used to help me control my anxiety. I appreciate the ability to have easy conversations and vent about the issues I am having while at the same time referring back to the goals we have set up.
