Welcome to my profile and congratulations on taking your first step into your therapeutic journey by being open to self-discovery and transformation. My name is Teona and I am originally from the country of Georgia. Assimilating into US culture was an interesting and challenging journey for me; however, it helped me become resilient and learn how to blend two completely different cultures. Coming from a collectivist country allowed me to connect with diversity better as a therapist. I often like to be the host, being around people, and genuinely enjoy learning about them.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our initial evaluation, I assess the client's safety, strengths, and weaknesses and rule out any medical conditions. I then help clients establish therapy goals that are realistic and measurable. Clients are able to walk out from therapy transformed by achieving what they want out of their lives through living, playing, and expressing. I prefer working with clients who need help with processing their traumas. I may sometimes assign assignments to clients because I believe that the best way to break unwanted patterns and improve awareness is through practice; however, most work is done outside of therapy as where Aha moments tend to happen between sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, specializing in treating childhood/transgenerational traumas. My main focus includes learning how to sooth inner child to improve self worth and to help you discover new ways of relating with others, especially close family members.

My treatment methods

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

We will talk about how you deal with your emotions and your relationships, struggles you have, and places you don’t feel so powerful, and I will help you deal with your emotions differently and help you learn about your relationships in ways that make you stronger. You'll be able to reduce fear of being overwhelmed emotionally to experience wholeness and balance, you’ll be able to learn about the blocks to attachment and restructure the bond with self and others.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

We will be working on identifying automatic thoughts, underline assumptions and core beliefs to help change the unhelpful patterns of behaviors. We will be reframing these thoughts and beliefs to change feelings and behaviors.
