LMFT, 11 years of experience
My name means “Light,” and my goal is to help you rediscover yours. As a BIPOC therapist, I bring a culturally sensitive, holistic approach to healing. Together, we’ll shed light on your challenges and explore compassionate, practical solutions to help you move forward. My work is rooted in the transformative power of mindfulness, spirituality, and self-awareness. I integrate psychoanalysis, faith-based counseling, and holistic healing to create a space where you can reconnect with your authentic self and cultivate resilience. I specialize in supporting adults facing anxiety, trauma, depression, and men’s issues. My approach blends psychotherapy with spiritual exploration and self-discovery — helping you realign with your purpose and inner peace. I believe every person holds untapped potential and innate wisdom. My role is to hold a nonjudgmental space where you can feel seen, supported, and understood. Through our work together, we’ll turn over the stones of your experience to reveal clarity, healing, and a renewed sense of direction. I’ve personally walked through profound loss and transformation — including a near-death experience and the passing of my beloved mother to cancer. These experiences deepened my faith in the human spirit and in our collective ability to heal and shine again. Wherever you are on your journey, I’m here to help you grow and remember who you truly are — a light meant to shine.
Our first session is more than just an introduction it’s the opening of a sacred space for your healing to unfold. Think of it as a gentle homecoming to yourself. Together, we begin the process of slowing down, breathing, and listening deeply to what your body, heart, and spirit have been trying to tell you. This first meeting is not about “fixing” you. It’s about meeting you fully, compassionately, and without judgment. We’ll explore what brings you here, what you long for, and what feels heavy or unresolved. I will invite you to speak freely, to let your story flow at its own pace, and to share only what feels right in the moment. I often weave in moments of mindfulness and reflection, allowing us to pause and notice what arises the sensations, memories, and emotions that live beneath the surface. Together, we’ll begin to trace the threads that connect your pain to your potential for growth. You can expect a calm, grounded atmosphere one rooted in respect, authenticity, and curiosity. Our session is a space for you to be seen, not as a problem to be solved, but as a whole human being whose experiences carry meaning and wisdom. This is the beginning of your journey back to yourself to your innate wholeness, light, and capacity to heal.
My greatest strength lies in my ability to meet you in the depths of your humanity to hold your vulnerability with care and presence, and to help you feel truly seen, heard, and understood. I believe healing begins the moment we are met with genuine compassion. In that sacred space, we can begin to make sense of pain, rediscover hope, and reconnect with what is most alive within us. My name means “Light,” and that meaning has become my compass in life and in therapy. I see my role as helping you shed light on the parts of yourself you’ve kept hidden not to judge them, but to understand them, to bring warmth where there has been coldness, and to find grace where there has been struggle. I bring a grounded, spiritual approach rooted in authenticity, empathy, and integrity. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in the tech world, where I witnessed how “success” can mask silent suffering. This perspective allows me to connect deeply with those who appear to have it all together yet feel disconnected inside. My experience spans diverse settings from prisons and schools to hospitals, hospices, and psychiatric institutions. Each environment has taught me something sacred about the resilience of the human spirit. No matter what you bring into our space grief, anxiety, trauma, or the quiet ache of not feeling enough I will meet you there with light, compassion, and unwavering belief in your capacity to heal and grow.
I work best with individuals who are ready to look beneath the surface of their struggles those who sense that their anxiety, depression, or burnout are not signs of weakness, but invitations to listen more deeply to themselves. My ideal clients are people navigating life’s turning points: the weight of trauma, the ache of grief, and the quiet discontent of success that no longer feels fulfilling. Many arrive during seasons of transition, when old identities or patterns no longer fit and something within them whispers for change. You may be exhausted from holding everything together at work, in relationships, or within your family while feeling unseen or disconnected inside. You may long for peace, meaning, or a renewed sense of purpose. I hold space for those who seek not only relief, but understanding. Together, we’ll explore the roots of your pain and the wisdom hidden within it, cultivating self-compassion, clarity, and balance. Whether you are facing anxiety, trauma, depression, burnout, or simply the question “Who am I becoming?”, I will walk beside you as we bring light to your journey. As Imam Ali (AS) said: “He who knows himself knows his Lord.” Our work begins with that knowing — learning to see yourself not through judgment, but through truth and tenderness. In that awareness, healing unfolds, and the light you’ve been searching for reveals itself within you. And as Imam Ali (AS) reminds us: “Within you is the remedy for yourself.” Together, we’ll rediscover that remedy your own light, wisdom, and capacity to heal. Our work begins with that knowing, learning to see yourself not through judgment, but through truth and tenderness. In that awareness, healing unfolds, and the light you’ve been searching for is revealed to have been within you all along.
I love connecting with my clients on a deep, refreshingly-human level. Our conversations will feel like a casual conversation which will inspire holistic approaches that focuse on free will, human potential, and self-discovery. My aim is to help you develop a strong and healthy sense of self, explore your feelings, find meaning, and focus on your strengths.
Whether or not you are spiritual, religious, agnostic or a thiest, I consider faith to be a very important aspect of someones life and a key piece towards their healing. I'll help you lean on your values to make decisions, understand suffering, set priorities, and create purpose and meaning in your life.
Positive Psychology focuses on the character strengths and behaviors that allow individuals to build a life of meaning and purpose; to move beyond surviving to flourishing. I believe all of us hold strong qualities within ourselves and it's simply paying attention to them to help bring them out. We'll work together on this in therapy.
We will do guided meditations and take inner journeys in the soul to help tap into your inner child.
I understant that you may be from a different culture, race or religion from where you are living now. I understand what it is like to feel that you're a little different than others and stand out from the crowd. Let's embrace that uniqueness about you and let it shine.

Shayan is the best. After many therapists I found one I can trust and someone who can relate to me and my feelings.

Shayan was gracious, patient, warm, comforting, validating, concerned, offered his wisdom, gave encouragement and most of helped me understand that healing is possible and with his guidance is obtainable.
