The world sometimes makes it seem that pregnancy and parenting are meant to be filled with pure joy. Yet, what if our experience does not match the vision we had for motherhood? Bringing life into this world and watching our children grow can be the most beautiful journey any person can pursue. At the same time, intrusive thoughts are real. Birth trauma is real. Navigating conflict with partners and family is real. Anxiety, depression, or simply struggling to find joy in pregnancy and motherhood is real. As a therapist, my goal is to create a validating space to normalize my client's experiences, helping them to create a life of balance and fulfillment. I have my Master’s Degree in Secondary School Counseling at the University of Texas at Dallas with the hope of working with adolescents and families. Through my own journey, I have shifted my focus to supporting women and families through pregnancy and beyond. While I have experience in Cognitive Behavioral and Solutions-Focused therapy, I believe in creating a therapeutic experience that is uniquely catered to your individual needs. You already have the strength within you to overcome any obstacle that life may bring. I look forward to going on the journey with you to use those strengths to flourish.
In our first session together, I will take some time reviewing what to expect in therapy and what to expect from me as your therapist, so that you have the opportunity to gain an understanding of what this journey looks like. The remainder and majority of the time will be diving in to what brings you to counseling, your history, and setting goals for therapy.
After the birth of my second child, I began casually helping new mothers navigate such a significant life transition which has turned into a passion. Over the past few years, I've supported mothers and couples in preparing for birth, processing grief/loss, and navigating the challenges of the fourth trimester. I am in the process of earning the Perinatal Mental Health Certification and hope to continue to specialize in supporting new families. Healthy parents grow healthy children. Parenting can be hard at every stage of development. I've supported parents of infants, children, and adolescents in creating healthy parent/child attachment and developing effective communication and behavior management.
CBT is my main therapeutic modality as it is an evidenced based treatment. Through CBT, we will look at the patterns of thoughts, behaviors, and emotions to identify ways to facility change & growth.
Mindfulness can be a powerful tool to connect the mind and body to process life's experiences. I use mindfulness integrated with other treatment methods to help navigate stressful moments and increase positive somatic responses.
I am in the process of completing training for this therapy to treat trauma.
