Hi! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) based in Texas. I have over 12 years of experience in the mental health field. I am a trauma informed, person centered, and eclectic therapist. I prioritize cultural humility in my practice to honor each individual's values, beliefs and traditions. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Mind Body techniques, Motivational Interviewing and Gottman's strategies.
You can expect the first session to focus on getting to know each other by establishing collaborative and trusting relationship and clarifying your goals for therapy. This session will also involve obtaining your informed consent to treatment, discussing and addressing any questions you may have about the therapeutic process involving treatment approaches, privacy policies, payment arrangements, cancelation/no show policies. I provide a non judgmental space and invite my clients to utilize this space to address any fears or uncertainties related to the therapist and the therapy process.
I am committed to providing a safe, client-centered, collaborative, transparent and empowering space that is geared towards reaching each individual's counseling goals. I am able to work with each individual to understand their unique challenges and work together with them to develop a treatment plan focused on achieving their desired goals. I am able to integrate different treatment modalities to establish a treatment plan that fits your needs.
I utilize CBT to empower my clients to take control of their thoughts, feelings and behavior in a constructive way.
By using culturally sensitive therapy and cultural humility, I promote a safe therapeutic space and recognize and normalize stigma and provide a therapeutic framework that provides hope and healing.
I enjoy working with couples and helping them recognize unhelpful relationship patterns, promote trust, connection, and healthy expectations. I incorporate Gottman's principles in providing couples counseling.
I am trained in mind body medicine approach and incorporate this modality to promote holistic healing by taking into account that the importance of the mind body connection in healing. By promoting self-awareness, self-care, and self-regulation, mind-body practices empower individuals to take an active role in their health and cultivate greater vitality and resilience.
I use Motivational Interviewing to recognize and normalize ambivalence which is a normal part of the change process. By utilizing MI, my hope to evoke and strengthen individual's own internal motivation and comittment to change rather than feeling pressured by external factors.
