Treat others the way you want to be treated is the motto I live by. I want to be treated kindly, I want to be heard and I want to feel I matter. This is how I will treat you, without strings or hesitation. I have a story just as you do. I have been lucky to choose a career that has enabled me to know when I need to talk to someone, enabled me to learn and use coping skills that work and has also enabled me to see the beauty through the broken pieces. Growing up I was a nosey child, I always wanted to know the "why", I still do! This personality trait led me on a path where I have been able to meet people from all walks of life, people who seemingly burned every bridge walked over, people with no hope as well as people who just were going through a rough patch. All these individuals have helped me become the person and the therapist I am today. I am truly excited to hear people’s story, restore faith and be the constant in people’s lives. Give me a chance to hear your story, you are not alone!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Prior to each session I will email you several brief assessments to determine the extent of your anxiety and depression. During the session, you will be heard. I want to get to know you, specifically the reason you are choosing therapy. Together we will discuss the type of therapy you are interested in; and I will help you understand what to expect from it. I will ask you what your goals of therapy are. Together we will set an agenda of items important to you. During the session we will work through each item and your feelings will be validated. I will teach you behavioral strategies that if practiced, will carry you through life difficulties. I will also ask you to give me feedback including concerns from the session. We will end the session with some coping strategies or skills that you can take with you to use while working towards your goal.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have seen quite a bit through my years, and I learn something from every single person I meet. Sometimes I learn what to do, and sometimes what not to do! As a therapist, my genuine kindness and empathy instantly make others comfortable, and trust is formed easily. Did you know saying something out loud is so much more powerful than the thoughts that are running through your head. Saying things out loud suddenly make them real. I want you to know it is okay to not be okay. I will not judge you; I will not pressure you and I will not waste your time! I am a real person with real experience in my own life as well as my professional life, I choose you; the person you are right now.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Do you feel negative thoughts about yourself, or your situation run in a repeating loop in your head? Do you catch yourself starting sentences or having thoughts that start with "I'll never........."? Do you find yourself discounting all the positives in your life, brushing accomplishments whether large or small as "a lucky guess or a fluke"? These examples are only a few of the many distorted thinking patterns many fall victim to. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I will teach you to recognize these automatic thoughts and replace them with healthy thoughts and behaviors. You will learn to be your own life coach and thrive in this life, feeling lighter, happier and more energetic!

Narrative

Did you know our minds are the greatest of all story creators? Our minds are constantly creating connections between things, trying to figure out how the world works. The problem is... when our mind doesn't know the answer, it will create connections from our past experiences, making its best guess! Sometimes that best guess leads to a narrative we have about our lives that causes feelings of being worthless, incapable, unlovable. As a therapist I believe you are the expert in your own life. You are NOT your problem. I believe you can overcome your problems and I also feel strongly that a person should never be defined by their problems or past! We all add value to the complex world. I will work with you using a growth mindset and you will soon see problems as challenges and ask yourself "How can this experience make me a better person?"

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Let's get empowered by staying in the present moment or situation and learning to accept it. Your thoughts, your situation are YOURS! It is OKAY to not be OKAY. It is OKAY to FEEL. Together, let me help you to become aware of what is distressing you and let me help you move forward in a healthy way on the path you choose.
