Hi! I’m Ileana, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Texas. I bring over a decade of experience in providing comprehensive mental health support to adults and children facing various life challenges. My practice is dedicated to fostering resilience, promoting personal growth, and helping individuals navigate transitions with confidence and self-awareness. My approach is centered on creating a safe and nurturing environment to foster healing and growth, helping each individual to thrive and achieve their fullest potential.
During our first session, we will begin by establishing a connection in a supportive and non-judgmental setting. You’ll share your story, challenges, and goals, and I will provide insight into how we can address these together. This session is designed to ensure you feel heard and to set the foundation for our therapeutic relationship, helping you feel secure and understood from the outset.
My strengths include a deep empathy for my clients, a robust background in trauma-informed and culturally sensitive practices, and a commitment to evidence-based therapies tailored to individual needs. My experience enables me to create a personalized therapy plan that supports each client’s unique journey towards healing and personal fulfillment.
I specialize in supporting adults and children who are dealing with anxiety, depression, career/school stress, relationship issues, and major life transitions such as migration, cultural, health or life adjustment. My approach is holistic, focusing not just on alleviating symptoms but also on empowering clients to make meaningful changes that enhance their overall quality of life.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a widely recognized and effective treatment method that focuses on exploring relationships among a person's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By identifying distortions in thinking and understanding the underlying patterns of maladaptive behaviors, CBT helps clients develop coping strategies aimed at changing their thought patterns to improve emotional regulation and develop personal coping strategies that target solving current problems. I have utilized CBT extensively in my practice for over ten years, particularly in treating anxiety and depression. I apply CBT techniques to help clients challenge their negative thoughts, replace them with more balanced and constructive alternatives, and develop systematic approaches to tackle their challenges.
This therapy method emphasizes understanding the unconscious processes as they are manifested in a person's present behavior. The goals of psychodynamic therapy are client self-awareness and understanding of the influence of the past on present behavior. In my practice, I use psychodynamic therapy to help clients uncover deep-rooted feelings and issues that stem from their past experiences which might be influencing their current decisions and relationships. This method has been particularly effective in working with clients dealing with complex trauma and interpersonal conflicts.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy is a goal-directed collaborative approach to psychotherapeutic change that is conducted through direct observation of clients' responses to a series of precisely constructed questions. SFBT focuses on addressing what clients want to achieve exploring the history and provenance of problem(s). I often employ SFBT in situations where clients seek short-term interventions, such as career-related issues, or when they wish to develop specific coping strategies quickly. It helps clients identify their own strengths and resources to find solutions in a relatively short period.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a program that helps you learn to calm your mind and body to reduce stress. It uses a combination of mindfulness meditation, body awareness, and yoga to help people become more mindful. I integrate MBSR techniques into sessions with clients who suffer from high levels of stress or chronic pain. The practice of mindfulness and acceptance has aided many of my clients in managing their symptoms and improving their overall quality of life.
Narrative Therapy is a non-pathologizing, empowering, and collaborative treatment approach that centers on clients’ abilities to be the authors of their own lives. This therapy is based on the concept that our identities are shaped by the narratives or stories we construct and live out through our interactions. In narrative therapy, the therapist helps the client to identify their dominant narrative (or story) and explore and rewrite the narratives that are not serving them well. I use Narrative Therapy to empower clients by helping them to identify their values, skills, and knowledge they possess to confront whatever problems they face. This approach allows clients to separate themselves from their problems and recognize various aspects of their lives that they may have been overlooking, providing a more holistic and enriched view of their lives.
