New to Grow
I am a LPC based out of New Orleans, LA with an emphasis working with individuals with PTSD, anxiety and depression and mood disorders with psychotic features. I am really efficient in helping individuals work through past trauma, and break current patterns that aren't working for them. I try my best to give hope to individuals and families who experience scary symptomatic periods. I understand on many levels the struggle of individuals who have been stigmatized and feel misunderstood due to their diagnosis.
The first session is a get to know you session where you and I will go over your psychosocial assessment which is sent to you during intake. This session allows for us to establish and develop treatment plan goals, as well as a chance for you to get to me and vice versa.
I like to operate from a place of curiosity and no judgement. I have quite a bit experience with many different levels of trauma. From working with veterans with PTSD, to individuals who struggle with communicating with their partners and family members, to people with mood disorders and experience psychosis, not much surprises me anymore, and I find that I have experience with most topics clients bring to the therapy session. I have a nonjudgmental approach and find much joy in aiding clients in discovering their own revelations and solutions.
Individuals who need help in breaking old patterns, whether that be day to day or in relationships with others can greatly benefit from my services. Couples who are stuck arguing in circles or need help resolving conflict in a safe, open environment are welcome. I have worked with individuals with mood disorders for over 3 years, and specialize in individual therapy for those people and their families, helping them deal with the day to day realities of a diagnosis.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have extensive experience in pattern recognition which can really help when a client feels stuck and unable to create new paths. I teach ways to reinforce positive thoughts and be rational about negative ones.
Attachment-based
I fully believe your past relationships effect your communication style and effectiveness. Exploring those dynamics can help in creating new ways to communicate and break old patterns.
Compassion Focused
I used compassion focused therapy for a specialized approach to individuals who struggle with auditory and visual hallucinations. Working in the field for over 3 years, I have developed an alternative method and hopefully hope, for individuals suffering from schizophrenia and any mood disorders with hallucinations and psychosis.
Psychoeducation
Understanding a diagnosis is the key to integrating it into life. Understanding and insight hold compassion and patience. If you have family members with mood disorders, I am able to help process what you are going through and help prepare for the future.
