Hi, I’m Laura, a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 10 years of experience helping people better understand themselves, break old patterns, and move toward meaningful change. I work with clients who may feel anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or unsure of how to get out of cycles that are no longer working for them. I specialize in anxiety, depression, ADHD, substance use, mood concerns, relationship issues, and building confidence. My style is warm, direct, down-to-earth, and sometimes a little quirky. I am not going to just nod quietly and ask, “How does that make you feel?” I help my clients connect the dots between their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and behaviors so they can start seeing themselves and their patterns more clearly. I know what it is like to struggle with your mental health and to experience how powerful therapy can be when you have the right support. My own therapist once helped me understand myself in ways that changed my life, and that is a big part of why I became a therapist. I connect with my clients to help them feel seen authentically and without judgement, gently challenged (yes I will call you out when necessary), warmly supported, and strongly equipped with tools they can actually use outside of session.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session, you can expect me to spend a lot of time getting to know you. I will ask questions about what brought you to therapy, what you have been struggling with, what your goals are, and what has or has not helped in the past. It may feel a little more structured than later sessions because I want to understand the bigger picture of who you are, not just the problem you are coming in with. After that, sessions tend to feel more natural and conversational. We will check in on what has been coming up in your life, notice patterns together, and connect what is happening now to the goals we are working toward. I want therapy to feel comfortable and real, while still being productive. You can expect a mix of reflection, honest feedback, practical tools, and real-world challenges to help you apply what we talk about outside of session.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring a balance of clinical skill, honesty, and genuine human connection to my sessions. I am good at making therapy feel less intimidating, especially for people who are nervous to open up or have had therapy feel too stiff in the past. I pay close attention to the small details, the patterns underneath the story, and the places where clients may be minimizing their own needs or getting in their own way. What makes my sessions unique is that I show up as a real person, not a blank wall. I am thoughtful, a little quirky, and very invested in helping clients feel understood while still encouraging growth. I like therapy to feel meaningful, collaborative, and grounded in real life. We will work together to define and achieve your goals. I like to say you're in the driver's seat, but I'm right next to you, buckled in and holding the map (or the phone, who even uses maps these days anyway?) And yes, if your pet walks by the camera, I will absolutely ask to be introduced. There is also a strong chance one of my seven animals will make a guest appearance at some point.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is someone who looks like they are holding it together on the outside, but internally feels anxious, scattered, stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of themselves. They may be hard on themselves, caught in patterns they do not fully understand yet, or constantly feeling like they “should” be further along by now. I enjoy working with clients who are ready to be curious about themselves and their patterns, even if they are not sure where to start. Many of my clients struggle with anxiety, ADHD, substance use, self-doubt, relationship issues, people-pleasing, or difficulty setting boundaries. They may want to feel more confident, communicate more clearly, make healthier choices, or stop repeating the same cycles in their relationships, work, or personal life. Therapy with me is a good fit for people who want insight, but also want something practical to do with that insight. I help clients connect the dots, challenge unhelpful beliefs, build real-world coping skills, and practice showing up differently outside of session. My goal is to help clients better understand themselves, trust themselves more, and move toward a life that feels more intentional and authentic.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

If your mind is constantly telling you what you “should” be doing, feeling, or figuring out by now, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help you slow that down. I use CBT to help clients identify and challenge the thought patterns and beliefs that keep them feeling stuck, anxious, overwhelmed, or not good enough.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Sometimes insight is not enough, and you need actual skills to get through hard moments differently. As a DBT-certified therapist, I teach clients practical tools for managing big emotions, communicating more effectively, setting boundaries, and making choices that align with the life they want. We will focus on skills you can use outside of session, not just things that sound good in theory.

Gottman method

Relationships can start to feel really lonely when communication turns into the same argument over and over. Using the Gottman Method, I help couples better understand their patterns, build confidence in their ability to communicate effectively, and learn how to actually hear each other again. We focus on strengthening connection, managing conflict in healthier ways, and creating more intentional moments of closeness.
