Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a strong therapeutic relationship. Please come prepared to share the primary concerns or challenges that have brought you to therapy, along with what you hope to gain from the counseling process. We will discuss your personal history, current concerns, and the goals you hope to achieve. Whether you are seeking support as an individual or as a couple, I will take time to understand your unique experiences, strengths, and challenges without judgment. You can expect a collaborative, supportive, and respectful environment where you feel heard and challenged. I may ask questions about your relationships, family dynamics, life experiences, and recurring patterns that have shaped your current situation, including the impact of intergenerational trauma and experiences when relevant. Together, we will identify priorities, develop clear treatment goals, and establish a plan tailored to your needs. There is no expectation to share everything during the first session. Therapy is a process, and meaningful change requires more than simply talking about problems. It often involves confronting difficult emotions, examining long-standing patterns, challenging beliefs that no longer serve you, and taking accountability for the changes you want to make. While every effort will be made to ensure that you feel respected and emotionally safe, therapy is not always comfortable. At times, the work can be emotionally demanding and even painful. Remaining engaged through those moments is often what leads to the greatest insight, healing, and lasting change. Successful therapy also depends on consistency. Building trust, rapport, and a strong therapeutic alliance takes time and regular participation. The frequency of sessions plays a significant role in maintaining momentum and supporting progress toward your goals. Inconsistent attendance or extended gaps between appointments can interrupt the therapeutic process and diminish the effectiveness of treatment. Together, we will determine a session schedule that best supports your needs and maximizes your opportunity for meaningful, lasting growth.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My approach to therapy is both compassionate and authentic. I believe healing happens through genuine connection, and I bring warmth, humor, and a sense of playfulness into the therapeutic space when appropriate. At the same time, I am not afraid to be direct, challenge perspectives, and push clients beyond the places where they may feel stuck. My goal is never to challenge from a place of ego or judgment, but to bring awareness to patterns, behaviors, and beliefs that may be limiting growth. Drawing from my clinical experience and observations, I will help shine a light on areas that may need deeper exploration and encourage honest reflection. Therapy is a collaborative process, and my role is to support you while also helping you confront the things that may be standing in the way of meaningful change.on or see.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) into my practice by helping clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. CBT provides a framework for identifying patterns of thinking that may contribute to emotional distress, relationship challenges, and behaviors that no longer support their goals. Through this approach, I work with clients to examine unhelpful beliefs, challenge negative thought patterns, and develop healthier perspectives that lead to more effective choices and responses. CBT is not about simply “thinking positive”; it involves learning to recognize how thoughts influence feelings and actions while developing practical strategies to create meaningful change. With individuals, CBT can help build awareness, improve emotional regulation, and develop coping skills for challenges such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, and self-defeating patterns. With couples, CBT principles can be used to explore how each partner’s interpretations, assumptions, and reactions influence communication and relationship dynamics. My goal is to help clients

Attachment-based

I incorporate attachment theory into my work by exploring how early relationships and life experiences shape the ways we connect, communicate, cope, and respond to others. Understanding attachment patterns can provide insight into how individuals approach trust, vulnerability, conflict, emotional closeness, and their own sense of security within relationships. With individuals, I help clients recognize how attachment patterns may influence their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationship choices. This awareness creates an opportunity to develop healthier ways of relating, strengthen emotional regulation, and build a more secure sense of self. With couples, attachment theory serves as a framework for understanding the deeper needs and fears that often exist beneath relationship conflicts. Rather than focusing only on the surface-level disagreement, we explore the underlying emotional patterns that impact connection, communication, and intimacy. By identifying these cycles and increasing understanding between partners, couples can learn to respond to one another with greater awareness, trust, and emotional availability.

Couples Counseling

I incorporate Imago Relationship Therapy into my couples work by using a dialogue-based approach to help partners understand the deeper emotional dynamics that influence their relationship patterns. Imago therapy recognizes that many relationship conflicts are connected to unmet emotional needs, past experiences, and attachment wounds that can become activated within intimate relationships. Through structured Imago dialogue, I help couples slow down their conversations, listen with intention, and move away from patterns of defensiveness, criticism, or disconnection. The dialogue process creates space for each partner to express their thoughts and emotions while the other partner practices understanding and reflecting back what they hear. This approach helps couples develop empathy, increase emotional safety, and create a deeper sense of connection. Using an Imago framework, I help couples move beyond surface-level conflict and explore the underlying feelings, needs, and experiences that shape how they respond to one another. The goal is not simply to eliminate conflict, but to transform the way couples engage during moments of tension and disconnection. I believe lasting relationship change comes through greater awareness, accountability, and the willingness to understand both yourself and your partner on a deeper level. Imago therapy provides couples with the tools to build stronger communication, rebuild trust, and create a more connected and fulfilling relationship.
