New to Grow
Hello, and welcome! I'm Melanie Rambo, LPC, NCC, a Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to helping adolescents, adults, couples, and families navigate life's challenges with compassion and practical support. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to grow. Together, we'll identify your strengths, develop effective coping skills, and work toward meaningful, lasting change so you can live with greater confidence, balance, and hope.
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, personal history, strengths, and the goals you'd like to accomplish. I'll ask questions to better understand your experiences while giving you plenty of space to share at your own pace. Together, we'll identify priorities and begin developing a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and judgment-free, and I want you to leave your first session feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about the journey ahead.
One of my greatest strengths is creating a warm, supportive, and authentic environment where clients feel safe to be themselves without fear of judgment. I believe healing begins with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy, and respect. My approach is collaborative, meeting each client where they are while recognizing that every person's story and path to healing is unique. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and trauma-informed care to help clients develop practical skills while addressing the underlying issues contributing to emotional distress. I focus on helping clients recognize their strengths, build resilience, improve communication, establish healthy boundaries, and develop coping strategies they can use long after therapy ends. Clients often describe me as compassionate, easy to talk to, and encouraging. My goal is not only to help reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, or life transitions, but also to empower clients to gain confidence, rediscover hope, and create meaningful, lasting change. For clients who desire it, I am also happy to incorporate Christian faith and spirituality into the counseling process in a way that aligns with their personal beliefs and values.
My ideal client is someone who is ready to invest in their personal growth and emotional well-being, whether they're taking their first step into therapy or returning after time away. They may be experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, stress, burnout, low self-esteem, or major life transitions and are looking for a safe place to process their experiences. I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families who are open to self-exploration and willing to learn new skills that promote healing and resilience. My clients don't need to have everything figured out—they simply need a willingness to show up and engage in the process. Together, we'll work toward meaningful change, healthier relationships, increased confidence, and a more balanced, fulfilling life. For clients who desire it, I also offer the option to integrate Christian faith into the counseling process in a respectful and client-centered way.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge negative beliefs, and replace them with healthier, more balanced perspectives. CBT also focuses on developing practical coping skills that clients can apply in everyday situations to manage anxiety, depression, stress, trauma-related symptoms, and life challenges. My goal is to help clients gain insight, build confidence, and create lasting changes that improve their emotional well-being and overall quality of life.
Christian Counseling
For clients who choose to incorporate their faith into therapy, I offer Christian counseling as an integrative approach that combines evidence-based therapeutic techniques with biblical principles and spiritual support. I respect each client's beliefs and never impose faith-based interventions. When requested, we may incorporate prayer, Scripture, forgiveness, hope, and other Christian values to support healing, strengthen resilience, and encourage personal growth. My goal is to help clients address emotional, relational, and spiritual concerns in a way that aligns with their faith while providing compassionate, clinically sound care.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
Person-Centered Therapy is the foundation of my approach to counseling. I believe that every client has the capacity for growth and healing when they are met with empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, valued, and accepted. By building a strong therapeutic relationship and allowing clients to guide the pace of treatment, I help them increase self-awareness, discover their strengths, gain clarity, and make choices that align with their values and goals. I view therapy as a collaborative partnership in which clients are empowered to take an active role in their own healing and personal growth.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help clients identify their strengths, build on what is already working, and develop practical solutions to their current challenges. Rather than focusing solely on problems or the past, we work together to clarify goals, recognize existing resources, and create achievable steps toward positive change. This approach empowers clients to develop confidence, increase resilience, and make meaningful progress while recognizing that even small changes can lead to lasting improvements in their overall well-being.
Trauma Informed Care
I provide trauma-informed care by recognizing the impact that past experiences can have on a person's thoughts, emotions, relationships, and overall well-being. My approach emphasizes safety, trust, collaboration, empowerment, and respect, allowing clients to move at a pace that feels comfortable for them. Rather than asking, "What's wrong with you?" I focus on understanding, "What happened to you?" Together, we build healthy coping skills, strengthen emotional regulation, and process the effects of trauma while honoring each client's resilience. My goal is to help clients feel safe, regain a sense of control, and move toward healing without fear of judgment or retraumatization.
