Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During your first session, you can expect a welcoming, relaxed, and judgment-free environment where you are encouraged to share your story at your own pace. My goal is to get to know you, understand your concerns, explore your strengths, and discuss what you hope to achieve through counseling. Together, we’ll begin developing a personalized plan that reflects your unique needs and goals, while building a trusting therapeutic relationship grounded in genuineness, transparency, and compassion.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of the greatest strengths I bring to therapy is a genuine passion for understanding people and helping them discover their own capacity for growth and healing. My interest in psychology began in high school, when I became fascinated by human behavior and recognized signs of depression in my mother following my parent’s divorce. That experience inspired me to pursue a career in mental with the dream of becoming a psychiatrist. Although life’s journey led me in a different direction, it ultimately brought me to my true calling as a Licensed Professional Counselor - a path that has allowed me to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others for more than 27 years. Clients often describe my approach as warm, engaging, and interactive. I don’t believe therapy is simply a place to talk, it’s a space to gain insight challenge unhelpful patterns and discover new possibilities. I use thoughtful questions, practical techniques, and honest dialogue to encourage clients to show up for themselves with courage while also extending themselves the grace and compassion they so deserve.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Many of the people I work with are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, stress, or feeling overwhelmed by the demands of everyday life. Some are healing from painful experiences, while others are simply looking for a safe place to better understand themselves and create positive change. My clients are looking for more than someone to listen—they want a therapist who will partner with them, offer practical tools, and help them move forward with confidence. They value a warm, supportive, and collaborative approach where they feel respected, understood, and empowered. Together, we'll work at a pace that's right for you, building on your strengths while developing skills to help you feel more hopeful, resilient, and in control of your life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help individuals recognize how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge negative beliefs, and replace them with healthier, more balanced ways of thinking. For example, someone struggling with anxiety may learn to replace catastrophic thoughts like, "Something bad is going to happen," with evidence-based, realistic thinking. A person experiencing depression may work on overcoming negative self-talk, increasing participation in meaningful activities, and rebuilding confidence through small, achievable goals. The benefits of CBT include reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression, improved coping skills, healthier emotional responses, increased self-confidence, better problem-solving abilities, and greater resilience when facing life's challenges. My goal is to help clients develop practical tools they can continue using long after therapy ends.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I use a person-centered approach to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, valued, and understood. By building a trusting therapeutic relationship, I help clients explore their experiences, recognize their strengths, and gain the confidence to make meaningful changes at their own pace.

Christian Counseling

When requested by the client, I integrate Christian counseling by incorporating biblical principles, prayer, and faith-based perspectives into the therapeutic process. This approach complements evidence-based practices while helping clients draw on their faith for strength, hope, healing, and guidance as they work toward their personal and emotional goals. Clients are always free to choose whether they would like faith to be included in counseling.
