Life is hard and sometimes we need help navigating through it. So many of us have those negative thoughts / beliefs that play out in our mind, some from early childhood trauma, others from ourselves. I can help you get rid of those negative messages and reduce or eliminate any symptoms that are a result of those messages and improve your life. I believe that a lot of us have beliefs/ thoughts that are a source of distress, does not matter if / when they started, it matters that they are distressing. There is a lot of negative out there and it is easy to focus on that and not what the positive that you are doing. A lot of people need help in seeing the positive there are doing and being validated for their feelings/actions. I meet the person where they are and will tailor the sessions with input from you to what best meets your needs. I am eclectic. I will provide education on different trauma treatment modalities to provide you the information that will help you decide the treatment modality that works best for you.

Whether you are dealing with a situational situation or a longer-term struggle I'll be there to support you through your work. Welcome! The Ebbs and Flows of Life are something we all experience. We flow towards our hopes and dreams, while other times we may flow away. When your life ebbs it is like you are struggling against the current, and fighting your way through the current to grasp what is important to you. Perhaps the times you are flowing away are a result of relationship concerns, addiction, past trauma, anxiety or living with negativity. Like large rocks under the water, you may not be able to see them but they are creating obstacles in achieving your goals while potentially impacting both your health and well-being. I believe that by taking this step in seeking help you are interested in moving forward back to what is important to you. My role is to help you on your journey.

I know at times life can seem confusing or even impossible. I believe with every fiber of my being we all have the answers we need. Somehow we get separated from our core strength. You are the expert on you, you alone hold your truth. I am interested in your story and use the description, "enlightened witness" as a way to describe some of what I do in my work as a therapist and healer. I see myself as a fellow traveler, a helper, and a companion who "holds the lantern" to help guide people to see out of dark places and into their truth. Much of the time we are living a narrative others have crafted, often by pain rather than strength. These narratives can feel like prisons but we can heal and take back our story, and choose to see from our core. Embrace compassion, reflection and most of all self-love. Some of my greatest joy comes from helping people move past pain into healthy and loving relationships with themselves and others. I believe suffering is inevitable but not without wisdom and growth. Sometimes seeing our strengths is difficult. Self-love must include your whole being and all parts ~ messy, vulnerable, raw and authentic. You are the velveteen rabbit and you are already worthy of your own love. You are already real. I am licensed in Virginia and Texas. I see clients in these states only at this point. To schedule an appointment please call: +1 (786) 755-1863 or email reception+Alyssa5684@growtherapy.com FYI Please schedule on the hour only. Otherwise, I will have to call you back and reschedule.

Hello I am Laura Cahill! I am a passionate, energetic, and dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a love for the art of engagement in the work of therapy. Do you feel like your emotions have taken over and pushed you out of the driver's seat in life? In life, we often experience challenges, unexpected stress and transitions, trauma, hurt, grief and loss. Understandably, we may struggle with powerful emotions that seem to almost overtake us. Part of the human experience is wanting to feel in control of our inner and outer lives. And when our natural emotional responses to difficult experiences and circumstances threaten that sense of control, we may find ourselves fighting our feelings. It’s time to step back from the battle-not by retreating, but by re-framing. Our emotions and feelings are not our enemies, they are messengers. This is where our work begins. We will focus on how to hear those messages by learning the skills needed to hear, manage and interact with these feelings to help calm the turmoil that life has taken on, understand and recover from the past, and to be fully present to our current experiences. To have the opportunity to create a life that is built on your terms and not defined by what has happened to you. Entering into the world of therapy can feel overwhelming and a bit scary (well done making it this far). I applaud your bravery and commitment to your process of healing and recovery and I would be honored to have the opportunity to get to know you better and to be a part of this journey with you.

I now do telehealth counseling, and I am licensed in both North Carolina and Virginia. Personality-wise, I am a combination of motivated and energetic but also easygoing and nonjudgmental. If you don't see any availability on my schedule, feel free to email me at palmer.jessica.lynn@gmail.com and I may be able to fit you in!

Social work is my passion and it has been for over 17 years. I have worked in a variety of settings using different treatment modalities. As I began working in the field as a substance abuse counselor, I recognized how great the need was in mental health and the challenges many individuals have faced as a result of trauma. My experience in providing years of group therapy helped me realize that there were many individuals who could benefit from therapy in a smaller context on an individual level. My experience includes corrections, community mental health, and working with active-duty service members and veterans. I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work at Longwood University in 2003 and Master of Science Degree in Social Work from Capella University in 2019.

Hi there! I am Brazilian and I graduated in Psychology almost 20 years ago - do not do the Math! =) I have been living in the USA since 2014 and I obtained my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2018. I specialized in working with LGBTQIA+ folk, most specifically transgender and non-binary (go They/Them!). Since then, I have expanded my practice and have enjoyed working with folk navigating grief, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and other various mental health symptoms. I provide therapy in 3 languages: English, Portuguese and Spanish. I am a Certified Grief Informed Professional and also a Trauma specialist. *** I unfortunately do not work with couples, so if you are seeking couples counseling, I am not a good fit. - I will be out of office from May 1st-May12th. People can make better decisions if they have enough information and understanding about how counseling works. Here are some aspects of counseling and therapy as I perceive and practice it: Therapeutic counseling requires your active involvement including efforts to change any self-defeating thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. You will be asked to work both in and out of the therapeutic counseling sessions. I may occasionally request that you do “homework” (ok-not a formal request because life happens and inevitably it will be that you have life duties to attend to but maybe jotting things down or making notes for yourself kind of homework) by way of providing you with further reinforcement to concepts discussed in session or simply to prompt further insight and self- exploration. There are no instant, painless, or passive cures, no “magic pills”. Instead, there will be ongoing personal and spiritual growth that can occur with your conscious effort. Most likely, you will need to work on improving stress management, cognitions (e.g. beliefs and thought processes), emotional health, relationships, and your general lifestyle if counseling is to be successful. Sometimes change will be relatively easy but more often change takes much effort, time, and persistence. My hope for you is that you grow into your best self in the present and that that allows you to be your best version for your future. Therapy is about YOU and your needs. I specialize in trauma, mood, and anxiety disorders and am an LGBTQ++ ally and kink-aware professional.

Since I was a child, I had a strong desire to become a helping professional.  My path was made clear when I discovered and fell in love with the field of psychology.  I have worked in the helping professions for the past 20 years, gaining knowledge and experience providing therapeutic services not only in private practice, but in criminal justice, social services, and correctional settings as well.  In addition to generalized professional experience, I have extensive, specialized training in trauma, grief, co-occurring disorders (mental health and substance use), and anxiety.  I am equipped to serve individuals, groups, couples, and families.   I truly view my role as a therapist as a life calling and I take my responsibility toward my work and each client very seriously. I look forward to collaborating with you to help you become the person you were meant to be.  Let's get to work!

Hi, I'm Lindsay. I am here to help you on your healing journey. I believe that each and every person holds all of the wisdom they need to overcome life’s traumas directly within themselves. My job as a therapist is to help shine a light on your own inner wisdom, and guide you through the healing process in a safe, nonjudgmental space. I believe that when we approach life’s challenges with curiosity rather than criticism we are better able to reach a sense of peace and acceptance to some of lives most complex circumstances and hardships. I am passionate about helping my clients navigate their journey to their most authentic, free, and true selves. I believe that when we have the tools to attune ourselves to our mind, body and spirit we come home to ourselves. And when we are at home within ourselves, we are free. Whether you are seeking to recover from narcissistic abuse, intimate partner violence, or family or childhood trauma, or you are struggling with a difficult life transition or depression, or anxiety. I will meet you exactly where you are. I believe that each individual is the expert on their own lives. My sole purpose as your therapist is to guide you with compassion and care to help you unlock your innate inner wisdom and equip you with the tools you need to overcome the trauma of your past. I am dedicated to liberation therapy and I reject all systems of oppression including but not limited to white supremacy, racism, and sexism.
