Hi! I'm Lindsey. Have you been feeling stuck lately and have overwhelming thoughts or emotions you just can't seem to manage? Do you find it hard to move on from difficulties faced in the past that continue to impact your present self negatively? I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and specialize in working with children and young adults to become a better version of themselves by processing trauma, current life stressors, and overall difficult emotions. I believe that you are the foundation for your own success and work to highlight your current abilities in an effort to support continued growth. My passion is helping those who have experienced a traumatic event in being able to become resilient and stronger people moving forward. I often use humor in conversations that seem difficult to face. Together, we can work to identify your goals and ways that you can work toward achieving them in an environment that feels safe and compassionate.
I always preface our first session with: you'll be asked a lot of questions! I review intake paperwork prior to session if possible so that I can come prepared with follow-up questions in an effort to understand your purpose in seeking therapeutic support at this time, as well as how your past may be shaping your present. I ensure confidentiality and review expectations and process of therapy, especially for those who are experiencing therapy for the first time.
In my time working with clients who have experienced trauma, I have also developed a strong sense of how to help clients with other life stressors manage and cope. I often work with clients to tackle the thoughts that influence their emotional experiences so clients can challenge the way that their past shapes their present.
I find the types of clients who "fill my cup" are those who present in therapy with curiosity about themselves and an open mind to what therapy presents them with. I've specialized in working with clients who have experienced trauma, those who experience significant anxiety symptoms, and clients who present with depression that may include self-harm or suicidal ideation. I am eager to help clients identify and develop short-term and long-term goals for their future that they feel confident in being able to achieve.

I was anxious about how the first session would go and right away Lindsey felt real and like they cared. They were attentive, empathetic and helpful.
While our feelings can be valid, often times our thoughts are not always true. I utilize CBT to help address the thoughts which cause unhelpful feelings or behaviors by identifying distorted thinking patterns and reframing them to be more helpful and adaptive.
EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, utilizes a technique called bilateral stimulation to help the brain process events and memories. I utilize EMDR to get to the root cause of specific negative core beliefs about oneself and work to change these beliefs to adaptive, positive thinking about oneself.
