I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Georgia. My experience comes from providing direct mental health and behavioral counseling for teens and adults with a variety of presenting issues, including anxiety, relationship and family issues, trauma, community violence, gender identity, and depression. I approach the therapeutic relationship with an acute sensitivity and respect for multi/cross-cultural factors. My clinical experience includes working with a diverse population which includes race, youth, families, and adults given my firsthand experience in navigating generational and cultural differences. Representation for minority groups in the broader world of mental health is still very small, and my own professional goals include creating more intersection between my personal knowledge of western cultures and professional experience in providing mental health support. My experience is varied and across settings, as I have provided individual and family therapy in community mental health agencies, school settings and day treatment facilities. I believe that we are all products of our closest relationships, our environment, our family systems, and every moment that leads to the present us. I strive to treat the therapeutic relationship, and you, with compassion, respect, and warmth. My therapy style and approach draws influence from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Psychoeducation, and Structural systems. A top priority for me is to meet you where you are and calibrate treatment and my approach to what will work best for us as we work together to meet your goals. Whether you are working towards enlightenment and insight or symptom-relief and improved functions, my hope is that we can collaboratively work together to achieve it! It takes a lot of strength and will power to work towards a more fulfilling and happier life. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support you and empower you.

I provide counseling for children, teens, and young adults in a supportive, collaborative environment where clients feel safe, heard, and understood. My approach is strengths-based, developmentally appropriate, and sensitive to past experiences. In therapy, I help clients build emotional awareness, coping skills, and confidence so they can better manage stress, big emotions, relationships, and everyday challenges. My goal is to support meaningful, lasting change by giving clients practical tools they can use in real life.
In addition to counseling, I offer comprehensive psychological evaluations to help families better understand concerns related to attention and focus (ADHD), autism, learning differences, emotional regulation, anxiety, mood challenges, and executive functioning skills such as organization and self-control. These evaluations are thorough but easy to understand and highlight both strengths and areas needing support. When appropriate, I provide clear diagnoses along with practical, individualized recommendations that families and schools can use right away.

I am not your typical therapist as I started my career in finance and have an undergrad in Business. While I could succeed in this path, I did not find meaning in it. I see becoming a therapist as a calling and not a vocation. I first worked in acute mental health as an advocate, then as an addiction counselor, and eventually after receiving my MSW as a dual diagnosis therapist. I have much empathy for the hurting and have always been drawn to those who have suffered from mental illness, addiction, and the effects of trauma. As such, I have been a mental health advocate, addiction therapist, mental health therapist, trauma therapist, psychiatric director, and behavioral health COO. I feel like I have seen all levels of behavioral health care and use that wealth of experience, resources, and specialized training to help others. I believe that compassion and empathy are keys to change and try my very best to meet you where you are. I also value diversity and have worked with a wide range of the problems that individuals and couples struggle with. Most of all, I am not a respecter of persons and have worked with the homeless to the CEOs of major corporations. I feel that we are all just humans and that we all struggle with similar challenges and problems. I have also worked with a great diversity of people from very diverse cultures and many international clients.

With over 15 years of experience as a therapist, I believe in meeting clients exactly where they are. Together, we work toward where they want to be—at a pace that feels safe and empowering.
Many people carry perspectives placed upon them by others—labels, expectations, and narratives that have been accepted, owned, and internalized over time. My work centers on helping clients gently unpack those inherited beliefs and rediscover who they truly are beneath them. I support individuals in becoming familiar with themselves—not the version shaped by others’ perceptions, but the authentic self that exists beyond external definitions.

I work with individuals navigating anxiety, stress, and life transitions, offering a space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported without judgment. My approach is practical and strengths-based, using CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and solution-focused techniques to help you build coping skills, gain clarity, and move forward in ways that feel right for you.
My counseling services integrate existential theory, CBT/REBT modalities, and DBT skills, with a focus on providing quality care to adults. I primarily work with concerns related to lack of meaning, trauma, anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders. While I emphasize choice and personal responsibility, I also make it a priority to validate each client’s emotional experience. I believe therapy should be about getting better, not just feeling better. To support that growth, I use active, directive, and challenging interventions designed to help clients develop the skills to ultimately help themselves.
It is important for me to establish a strong rapport with clients. I treat my clients how I expect to be treated if I was a client obtaining therapy. I consider myself a fair and objective person who listens without judgment. I am open-mind and kind, and it is important for clients to feel my genuineness and empathy throughout the therapeutic relationship.

Hi, my name is Summer Hamilton and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia. I have been practicing for 5 years. I have a desire to meet clients where they are as they navigate through the various challenges of life. I hope to create a space that is safe, inviting, allows you to openly express yourself, and helps create balance in your life.
I am passionate about helping people relate more authentically to their bodies and the people around them. I specialize in clients pursuing sex therapy, body image/eating disorder therapy, and struggling with chronic illness. My work focuses on helping you developing a deeper knowledge of, understanding of, and relationship with yourself, and cultivating a sense of empathy and care for parts of you that you may find frustrating, difficult, shameful, or impossible to overcome. I am knowledgeable, supportive of, and love working with individuals in the polyamory and kink communities.
