This dedication motivates me to continue advancing professionally, with the ultimate goal of giving back and making a positive difference in the lives of others.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During the first session, is designed to help my client understand that they are in a safe place where they feel heard, supported, and understood. We will take time to get to know one another and focus on what is the motivation to attend therapy. We will review the practical details of therapy to include confidentiality, boundaries, and how the sessions will progress. We will also complete the initial assessment to help determine the best treatment moving forward.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My approach to counseling is rooted in compassion, understanding, and being nonjudgmental. I strive to create a space where you feel genuinely comfortable—where you don’t have to filter your thoughts, minimize your feelings, or worry about being judged. Therapy with me is a place where you are free to share your heart openly, at your own pace, and in your own words.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I am honored to serve all clients; however, the client I tend to work better with are those who are willing to see another perspective and consider change. Many of my clients present to the session unsure and concerned. They come with challenges surrounding excessive worry, symptoms of depression, and stress over things that are out of their control. I work very well with those who are willing to be actively involved in the therapeutic process. Clients who expect a quick fix often do not do well and tend to become frustrated with the process. The therapeutic relationship is reciprocal, and I encourage clients to be a part of their healing process.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have used this method with the majority of my clients to help them overcome challenges with anxiety. I also implemented this method when working with inmates to help them manage addiction. I use various handouts and models (cognitive triangle; thoughts on trial; emotion exploration).
