LCSW, 1 years of experience
New to Grow
Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Amber Wade. With over 12 years of experience as an Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I specialize in supporting individuals through some of life’s most challenging moments. Whether you're facing a crisis, dealing with trauma or grief, struggling with anxiety and depression, or navigating a significant life transition, I’m here to help. My approach is rooted in empathy, understanding, and proven therapeutic techniques that are tailored to meet your unique needs. Together, we can work toward healing, growth, and finding a sense of balance in your life. As a therapist, I offer a compassionate and holistic approach to mental health that incorporates person-centered therapy, solution-focused therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). I work with individuals aged 16 and up, tailoring my approach to meet each person's unique needs and goals.
In your first session here's what you can expect: A first session is a time to build rapport, gain insight into reasons for seeking therapy and may include a few questionnaires to evaluate a client's needs at the beginning of treatment. The session also involves creating a safe, non-judgmental space where the client leads the conversation, focusing on their feelings and experiences through active listening and empathy. The therapist acts as a genuine facilitator, offering unconditional positive regard rather than giving advice or interpreting, to foster the client's self-discovery and personal growth.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my deep sense of compassion and understanding, which allows me to create a safe, non-judgmental space for my clients. My personal experiences with grief, loss, and anxiety have given me a unique empathy that enhances my ability to truly connect with and support those navigating similar challenges. Professionally, I am committed to continuous growth and learning; I have completed extensive training in crisis intervention, grief and loss, anxiety, and depression. This combination of personal insight and professional development enables me to provide both emotionally attuned and evidence-informed care, supporting clients with sensitivity, skill, and a genuine commitment to their healing journey.
If you are someone who is currently navigating significant challenges, including the deep pain of grief and loss, the overwhelming feelings of anxiety, stress and depression, and the complexities that come with relationship issues, you are in the right place. I also specialize in meeting the needs of individuals who are struggling with the unique pressures of being a person a woman and/or a person of color in the world.
Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy involves working collaboratively with clients to identify negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to problems, helping them develop healthier coping skills, and encouraging the practice of these skills through in-session and between-session exercises. The treatment focuses on current issues, teaching clients to challenge unhelpful thoughts and adopt new behaviors.
In Couples Counseling I act as a neutral, empathetic mediator to help partners improve communication, resolve conflicts, understand each other's needs, and build a stronger emotional bond through various therapeutic approaches like Emotionally Focused Therapy.
As a therapist, I ensure to recognize my own biases, take time to understand the client's unique cultural background (including beliefs, values, and experiences), and tailor treatment plans to be respectful and effective for that individual. This approach involves open communication, collaborating with the client, creating a safe and welcoming environment, and adapting therapeutic techniques to incorporate cultural influences on mental health and distress.
In Grief Therapy, I create a supportive, non-judgmental space for clients to express emotions like sadness, guilt, and anger related to their loss. Clients will discover healthy coping strategies to manage distress and may use techniques from approaches like Cognitive Behavior Therapy to help reframe negative thought patterns.
In Solution Focused therapy sessions, clients are guided to achieve goals by focusing on their strengths, existing solutions, and preferred future, rather than dwelling on problems. The process is brief, typically involving a limited number of sessions, to achieve effective and time-efficient change by building on client resources and promoting a future-oriented mindset.
