Annabelle Gill

LPC (she/her)10 years of experience

Hello, and welcome. My name is Annabelle Gill, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I’m honored that you’ve taken this step toward caring for your mental and emotional well-being. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable exploring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. My approach to counseling is collaborative and client-centered, meaning we will work together to better understand your goals and develop strategies that support your growth and healing. Whether you are navigating stress, anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, or other concerns, I am here to support you at your own pace. I believe that each person has unique strengths, and part of our work together is identifying and building on those strengths. Please feel free to share openly and ask questions at any time—this is your space, and your voice matters here. I look forward to working with you.

First session

I want to start by saying it’s completely normal to feel a little nervous or unsure coming into your first session. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, supported, and not judged. During our first meeting, we’ll spend some time getting to know each other. I’ll explain how I work and go over important information like confidentiality, what you can expect from therapy, and any policies or logistics. This is also a chance for you to ask any questions you may have. I’ll invite you to share what brought you in. You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say—just start wherever feels easiest. You can share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with. I may ask some questions about your background, such as your current concerns, past experiences, relationships, work or school, and any relevant mental or physical health history. This helps me understand the bigger picture so I can better support you. We’ll also begin to talk about what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. If you’re not sure yet, that’s okay—we can figure that out together over time. Before we finish, we’ll talk about next steps, including whether it feels like a good fit and how we might move forward. Most importantly, there’s no pressure to be perfect in this process. You don’t need to have all the answers—just showing up is a meaningful first step.

Strengths

I’m an Army combat Veteran and a mental health professional who genuinely cares about helping people feel heard, understood, and supported. I’ve worked with people facing all kinds of life challenges and emotional struggles, from everyday stress and anxiety to major life transitions and trauma. I strive to create a safe, welcoming space where you can explore what’s on your mind without judgment. My approach is warm, honest, and focused on building trust so that together we can find strategies that work for you and help you feel more empowered in your life

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or CBT, is a way of helping you look at how your thoughts, feelings, and actions affect each other. Sometimes we can get stuck in patterns that make us feel worse or keep problems going. In our sessions, we’ll work together to spot those patterns and test out new ways of thinking and responding. It’s a really practical therapy—you’ll often try small experiments between sessions and see what works best for you. It’s not about telling you what to think, but helping you notice what’s happening in your mind and make choices that help you feel better day to day.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

CPT is a therapy that helps you understand how a difficult or traumatic experience is affecting the way you think and feel. Sometimes after trauma, people get stuck in unhelpful thoughts—like blaming themselves or feeling unsafe all the time. In therapy, we’ll look at those thoughts together and work on developing more balanced, realistic ways of thinking. This can help reduce distress and help you feel more in control.

Positive Psychology

Positive psychology is a therapy approach that focuses on building your strengths and what’s already going well in your life. Instead of only focusing on problems, we also work on things like gratitude, meaning, and what helps you feel your best. The goal is to help you feel more balanced, resilient, and fulfilled.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT is a therapy that helps you learn how to handle difficult thoughts and feelings without letting them control your life. Instead of trying to get rid of them, we focus on accepting them and creating some distance from them. At the same time, we’ll identify what really matters to you and take steps toward those values, so you can build a meaningful life even when things feel hard.

Trauma-Focused CBT

TF-CBT is a therapy that helps you process and heal from a traumatic experience. We’ll learn skills to manage stress and strong emotions, and gradually talk through what happened in a safe, structured way. The goal is to help you feel less overwhelmed, understand your thoughts and feelings, and feel safer and more in control.
