I developed and ran a head injury treatment facility in Carbondale, Illinois, but have spent my last 36 years in private practice in Miami, Coral Springs and The Villages, Florida. I have specialized in psychological evaluation, neuropsychology, and forensic psychology. geriatric psychology and individual psychotherapy. My modes of treatment include psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and, when called for, some degree of psychoanalytic therapy. After 3 years in academia and 8 years as a forensic psychologist, I moved my family to Miami in 1986 and joined a large private practice firm. Three years later, I was entirely on my own and have been so ever since. I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Human Development from Virginia Tech, followed by a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of South Carolina. I have close to 10 years of experience working as a therapist in both community based environments as well as through outpatient and telehealth settings. I have worked with a variety of clients that range in ages from adolescence through older adulthood. I work with my clients to help them overcome whatever issues they may be facing. I believe it is important to meet them where they are at and provide a safe, nurturing, and non judgmental space where we can work through issues and stressors together and develop ways for you to effectively cope with them. I have been a mental health provider for over 30 years. I have gained knowledge through training and experience and developed a holistic counseling approach using mind, body, spirit and energy psychology. I am certified and trained in EMDR , hypnosis, and sound healing. I believe in finding a good routine of stress management and outlet and deep relaxation is very helpful. EMDR uses eye movements and other right-left stimulation to activate your brain's processing system so you can successfully process the experience and let go of what's not useful to you.
